[Project] Lian Li PC-Q11

Having just about completed my main rig, [Project] Lian Li A05NB, I've decided to build a smaller, low power/low cost machine to act as a Home Server/HTPC. Guess we can call it the main rigs little bro. I've been accumulating parts for the past few weeks and finally put it all together. No project name as of yet since I'm not very creative when it comes to those sorts of things. I'll have to come up with something later, or not.

I'm no artist but more of the practical type, so that's the approach I will be taking throughout this build.

Alright, enough of the chit chat. Lets get down to business.

The Hardwarez:

Now lets get this party started

First up, MNPC Tech "Micro" Case Feet. Love the feet but am not very happy with the OEM placement. It looks off, way off. I'll have to remount them further out towards the corners.

Here's the hardware test fit. Yep, it all fits and works well. Messy as all heck I know, lol. Well, its a start...

B-Magic, Gray and Black sleeving will be used in this build. Gotta love MDPC Sleeving, its surely in a league of its own.

Alright, that's all for now. Soon as the sleeving arrives I can get back to work tiding things up.

I almost got one of these to replace the PC−Q07 I have for my portable MP3 server build, but then I realized that when I finally finish and unveil it, it'd look far more impressive in the smaller case.

I finished off a nice little ITX system, but went for the Q09FB case.

Be careful of your air flow as heat does build up in such a small case, fit the best fans you can get.

You might ask yourself

"Self, why is lunatic polishing all these parts?"

Could it be because he spent too much time at test depth polishing torpedo tubes on watch during his first few years in the Navy?

or

Could it be because he's trying to maximize lighting in such a small space by using the reflective properties of polished metal?

Hmmm, join the club. Everybody wishes they had more money to spend on computers. (Unless ur in the top 1%, I guess, but then u prolly have somebody build ur computer for u.)

However, even more scarce than money is TIME. I never seem to have enough time to spend on my computer hobby. I needs moar time!

@OCMaximus: I'm loving it so far. And I love the SFF. Anyway, here are my comments:

1. I love that German guy's sleeving too, so ur preaching to the choir with me. But, I have to break from u guys on the stickers and the capacitors, as I don't see the reason to strip it all off frankly. But it's a personal choice, so i'm not being critical of ur work. It's just not my thing.
2. I really like the polished metal though. Super nice look. U have inspired me to see what I can polish in my rig!

Why put big mud tires on a street truck if your not going off road?

Personal preference.

I'm with you on not being critical, its your opinion as we are all entitled to one.

I like the clean look, like my satin black shaved 2004 Ram. That's my preference. A clean, functional minimalist look is what I'm going for here.

AeroCool Shark 140mm Black Edition 140mm Blue LED Case Fan plus a mesh shroud.

Shortened CPU 4 pin by 6". Next on the agenda is shortening the 24 pin then sleeving it all.

Yeah, wife loves it when I solder in the kitchen, really...
