DemciFlex filters - anyone using them?

I am thinking of ordering the DemciFlex dust filters.

Are they any good; i.e., better then the usuall mesh dust filters?

I did have some. Rather expensive but I do have to say they seemed effective ... although they are a tad ugly if on the outside of a case.

They were too expensive and looked rather restrictive, got the Silverstone honeycomb filters instead and they work wonderfully. Perfect balance of flow and filtration.

Note that my radiators are located outside so dirt accumulation is magnified and the honeycomb filters do a great job of filtering out most of the debris before it reaches the fan blades.

I'm interested in these filters too, thanks for posting this. How do they sound? Are they really restrictive as they look and create a lot of noise when air passes thorough them?

I was wondering myself, I saw jim from caselabs mention this product when someone asked which filters to use.. I am using a Caselabs M10 plus Pedestal, the way it is currently designed, I can imagine the dust nightmare in matter of months, less if left on 24/7..

so I was thinking either get some custom filters made and have them stick on the inside of the case as much as possible, or just get a bunch of these 120mm fan filters and attach them to every 120 intake fan in my case, counting 13 off the top of my head...

    <3 them...

easy to clean... and the mesh is high quality... much better then i originally expected..

get 1 size up tho you guys..

    120mm -> 140mm...

The ones meant for rads are wider so u can go with the normal sizes on that.
The 120x3 is long enough for an OG PA120.3 as shown in that picture.

And yes ive played with a lot of filters during that build:

I used to run a few of these on my top intake setup on my 800D. They were VERY VERY effective. I had to clean them out at least once a week, as far as restriction, not that I can tell. Really helped keep my case and what not clean. But sadly, I screwed up on my latest re-build, and been lazy ever since to flip the fans around for top intake again.

Thanks guys. Do they make the air flow sounds loud while passing through them? I heard Silverstone's, and didn't notice they're "loud", so was just wondering what's with these...

NaeKuh, since you have been using them for some time already and your environment is more dusty than the surface of the moon, how are they holding the test of time ? Is the insides of you case still squeaky clean ?
Also what size did you order for the triple 120 ? I have a MM build in the works and considering those too for my 3x120 rad and 3x140 rads.

    24/7 running quiet and nice

    they collect dust....

but if your in a high dust enviorment... a dust box like this is a better solution with filters on your computer.

collect the dust b4 ur computer can in a sense...

Then whatever dust that unit cant collect, the decim's collect.

But yea, that dust box has reduced the overall dust in the room, and the decim's get whatever excess the dust box couldnt.

the closer the filter is to the fan intake .... the loud it is ...
use shrouds in between the fan and filter to reduce the noise

I love them. I have 2 covering 2 360 rads with delta fans running and they are amazing. Like Naekah I have tried a ton of filters and even made some home brew ones. These are worth the price.

i had these filters on my radbox 6x140mm
they were working great... untill i put a 6990 video card in my machine and was mining with it.
then the temperatures when high, water was getting hot. estimate about 45deg C
took the filters off and temperature dropped signifigantly.
i'm not sure if it was because i didn't clean the filters well enough... they were vacumed weekly.
but i have stopped using them.
now when the water temps get to high i just blow the rads out with compressed air...

    oh that's not good..

I still have not ordered it yet as I have not the time to measure the actual size I need, the spacing is a bit different compared to that of just 120*3 or 120*1, my case is a case labs M10 + Pedestal, I was looking to get filters for the bottom pedestal (both sides 120*3), front 120*1, front 120*3, and side panel which is about 120*2 (x2)..

I hope someone can give me a good idea (last minute conclusions on my part) of how well these filters perform, I assume these filters wont be cheap as with any custom made items are just that, expensive..

    Thanks

I have a 120x3 and it works, but does reduce flow. It reduces flow a lot less than filters I have used in the past in my quest for dust filtration. A few things I have found is the flow reduction doesn't seem to be as high if you have filter>Radiator>fans(pulling through the rad/filter) vs having the filter right next to the fans or if for some reason you are blowing through the filter (fan first) seems even worse. I can't comment on temps because I am still deciding what to put in the box that will actually be an upgrade, but probably if push comes to shove I will rip them off if they pose a heat issue vs getting faster fans.

I like these filters myself... seem to work well
    120mm Aluminum filter - Black
they have a larger surface area then a flat filter because its corrugated

Thing is these seem to destroy air flow compared to the DemciFlex.
Filters are all about finding the happy median of flow vs filtration for your personal needs. This style will filter a lot, but at the cost of heavy air flow loss. Not to mention they clog a lot faster which means even more of a loss of airflow unless you clean them weekly (more or less depending on environment).

my wife vacumes them weekly, so no excessive build up.

well I ordered some, they were not as expensive as I though.. came out to roughly $120 USD including shipping, 7 filters for my box + 2 more for my APC, that thing is sucking in dust like a vac also..

I'll let you know if I see any differences in a week or so after receiving them, not sure when they'll arrive as the ETA could be 3-21 days since it's regular postal mail from Africa I think..

    This is from Demciflex site..

    • If the filters get really dirty it may be cleaned by setting it down on a flat surface and gently brush it with a small brush (toothbrush is ideal) and soapy water. Rinse under tap and dry thoroughly before refitting it to your unit.
I'd probably run a vacuum over it every so often, remove and wash when necessary..
