    AwardFabrik's first AMD Bulldozer runs - 1m and 3DM11 with LN2...

    Hi,

first of all: these runs were done with very low RAM frequency. Later on we managed 1200MHZ+ but I don't have any screens of that. No patches or anything that currently appears have been available at this time.
Run was done during our AF / Team LDK session a little over a week ago.
We just tested like 2 hours but it wasn't even close to what we've expected

    Thanks for the results.

How would you rate the FX-8120 in terms of overclocking? Is it binned, or is it as good as the FX-8150. In the last case, I'd maybe pick a FX-8120 and OC it, else I'd rather go with a 2600K.

Not too surprising given what we've seen from stock clock reviews. Thanks for the runs, looks like it is another 18 months of Intel domination

I think most benchers will stay put with their current bench gear, maybe just buy one do a cpu-z and then sell it... would have loved to see a 7ghz BD beat a 5.8 SB
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

But This is SuperPi, Intel has always dominated SuperPi. Ya BD isnt great especially in single thread. But people really thought it would suddenly be amazing at SuperPi and beat Intel here?

We reached about 6600, but i think this was a tribute to our AMD skills

    These skills are absolutely amazing!

No Intel only started surpassing AMD in SuperPi once Conroe was released. On Netburst and before it trailed AMD by a large margin.

I think people are rather disappointed that not even 8 GHz are enough to come close to 10s, while Phenom II CPUs are capable of sub10 in 1M at much lower frequencies. Nobody with a bit common sense left would have expected that AMD beats Intel with Bulldozer in this particular benchmark, so that's not the main reason why extreme overclockers are disappointed by the Super Pi performance.

Maybe it was also due to the early bios, but couldn't get closer to 7 at the first quick run.

btw it's not only about the Pi Score but look at that low physx-score - every sandy at 5.5 beats this iirc ^^

It was kinda funny to sit in front of that setup together with boris and all the other guys, look at the bios and think wtf!?

And then the epic wtf-face when we finished the first AM3

any wprime? what else did you bench? I just bought a 990FX ud7 and 8120 from egg yesterday it it arrives tomorrow.
what temps did you get to? dumo has the same board, I have this M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 board as well. When I get the chip should I try it on this board first? Its all insulated still and ready to go. Will bulldozer work on it or should I not even bother? SoF thanks for sharing your results. After seeing this I kinda wish I waited for the 8150 to get back in stock. is it the bin or is it something else that was holding you back? anyways we should stick together. Dumo has a 8150 and the same board. I have a 8120 and UD7. cant wait to get it going.

dude I'm stoked you are all set. I just went on the bot and I see no results for 8150-8120 for any pc mark, only one for wprime 32/1024.
I think there are too many dudes going for spi runs and not enough trying other benches. I am going to focus on wprime and get my raid setup going and try to set some pc mark. any advice with that M4A89GTD board? its all ready to go and I'd rather screw that board up than the UD7. I dont think Ive ever spent over 200 bux on a board. I dont want to kill it right into the gate and its been a while since I've cold benched. I must admit Im a little nervous. as a bencher Im totally out of shape. I think you need to come over here one of these nights. I saw the vid on hw bot with macci and sf3d and they seem to be having a great time.
that vid truly inspired me. just good dudes having fun with bulldozer.

sorry SoF for derailing this thread you just were one of the 1st to get some real results with the 8120 and now you got us all pumped up.

Check under air for correct boot - we got a Crosshair V out of the box with a bios that wouldn't work with our BD-sample. There was no other chance but to drive 120km to the next bigger shop that had open saturday afternoon and get an older sempron
I am not sure if they did wprime later on - I think I was already prepping 8800 GTS on a sandy then

Just isolate well between socket and heatsink and you're all fine. We ran fullpot quite some time -192°C pot and had no issues at all.
Oh and btw no problem with getting a good discussion about BD under cold going, that's what we are all here for

everything regarding 3D / physx / cpu-scores seemed horribly slow...06 CPU score far below 10k iirc and "insane" 270k AM3 with 580 GTX

Dumo did you ever get your single stage on? I'm waiting for UPS to arrive. He should be here any minute.
thanks SoF for being cool by allowing us to discuss. When Chew and Macci and those guys were doing the He3 8.4ghz run they were using the ud7 990FX correct? did they get a special bios from GBYTE? just curious.
