No Samsung Galaxy S II on Verizon- what's the alternative?

The word out there( and we all know how deceiving that can be )is that Verizon opted out of the Galaxy S II. Though they might get what is named the Samsung Droid Prime exclusively instead- is this true and would this be a good alternative?

My upgrade is October 23 or after of course so I can wait a little after that date if there is to be a release of something similar (or almost as good) to the Galaxy S II

VZ is getting the nexus prime, its the nexus based on the galaxy s II, i would wait for that this winter. its supposed to be out with the launch of icecream sandwich. its also going to be natively rootable on VZ and that is something thats hard to come by so its going to be the best one on VZ by far.

When is the Nexus Prime expected out now? Anyone hear anything; I can hold off longer no problem but my upgrade time arrives next Monday

There is a press conference on the 18th where they will unveil both ICS and Prime but release date for the phone is unknown as far as I know.

Should I wait for this? The info I have seen it does look nice and waiting a month or 2 past my upgrade is fine but 6 or 8 months is another story

It's supposed to be in retail channels shortly after launch from what I've been told but I know American carriers suck so dunno what VZ will be doing.

in the past tmobile had the dev phones right when they were announced as did googles online store. so i would expect this to be the same way.

Potential, of course it's all web rumor and speculation, November 21 Launch Date . I wonder why they wait while other phones of possibly as great of quality are released

Man - how do you keep up with these phones - newer, faster one is released every other week it seems.
