Unhappy LSI 9240 doesn't seem some disks

    I have here a IBM M1015 / LSI 9240-8i

the cable is known to be good

the card has 8 drives plugged in, 4 it sees, 4 it doesn't.

Here are the four it doesn't see:

    2x Samsung HD204UI
    1x WD RE2 500GB
    1x WD RE3 500GB

the sammies & the later RE3 are SATA2
    the RE2 is SATA1

this card has previously run SATA1 HDDs no problems.

any idea why the card doesn't see these 4 drives?

are they on the same cable? if they are, switch the cable to the four "good" drives and see if you still have good luck. Cables can be very tricky...

then try your power. check cables, PSU, etc. i would make sure that they are getting power.

I'm 110% positive the cables are all fine - I have the correct ones & have swapped about all of them to double check
I'm double check power but this is highly unlikely.

are all four drives connected to the same cable that are not functioning?
If so, swap the cable with the drives to a different port. may be a bad port.

have just finished testing individual drives

I also have in the same rig a IBM M1015 - same as the card in OP, just rebadged - have tested multiple cables on multiple cards on multiple ports......nothing
