What boards will Gulftown Xeons drop into?

I'm looking into grabbing a Xeon w3680 for $620 new, and reckon that it will keep me satisfied from moving to something like SB-E or Ivy.

I've been told that I might need to do some modding to my EVGA E760 to get the w3680 to work in my board. What does this entail?

I'd prefer to get back into an R3E, and I also think that it simply needs the right BIOS to support the Xeon Gulftowns?

Can anyone clear this up for me?

Hi, best Boards for Gulftwon I had was the RE3, EVGA CF3 works also fine.

Does the R2E support Xeons with the latest 2002 BIOS? Also, could you use ECC ram if the board has Xeon support?

Giga supports them also, UD3/UD5/UD7/OC, Asus RE3Gene,R3E

Depends on the revision of the board. You may have to solder 2 points. Or send it back to EVGA and they will do it for you for free.
