YAMAHA PRO AMP 3 ohms? JL 12W7

P7000S has a dynamic power rating for 2 but no rms.

I'm planning on driving a pair jl 12w7 for 400(3 ohms) that would be bought for 400 for 2. Not sure if its going to be safe to drive.

    I need a silent amp.

    Any ideas?

I really do not want to spend much more the the actual cost of the subs.

Should be fine at 3 ohms per channel if the amp is rated to 2 ohms per channel.

Too bad its only a 650w amp.

damn, the yamaha only takes a min. of 4 ohms and a max of 950w

Is it possible to drive 3 ohms? 1 ohm difference.

says it will run 2 ohms on the websites, so 3 will be fine. "1" ohm of difference is a lot sometimes.

Did a more careful look on the chart, it says burst mode.....

Seem some people are running it at 2 ohms....
However not designed for that load.
Not a lot of time for research for myself
I might just go for a qsc because its a rated rms load.

But i need a rackmount closet thats quiet. Anyone got suggestions. I really don't want to hear fan noise.
I'll continue to look on some other forums when i got the time.

The cheaper the amp, the louder the fan noise usually. You can always buy something and replace the fans with something quieter. It shouldnt matter for cooling on a QSC since you wont be stressing the amp at all in a home environment.

Make sure you get the right model series though, not all QSC amps are rated for 2ohm operation. It depends on the class of amp it is.

I would stick with the yamaha over the qsc. Every QSC i've seen has been electrically noisy and impotent power wise.

Mine have been fine on power, but definitely agree with the electrical noise The only single amp I have owned from QSC (I own 5) that has been perfect and is the most amazing amp I have ever heard is the DCA1644. It powers my front L and R speaker towers. My 4 other QSC amps have been quite noisy, although 2 of them didnt start out that way. Hmm.
