It's starting again! New beasts coming.

And in all flavors and prices.
AMD with their Bullcozer and Interlagos series
Intel with their 6 and 8 core SB-e chips.
    Good things coming my friends.
Machines pulling 5GHz for 24/7 work.
I'd planned to take this year off from upgrades but not anymore.
I can see a dualie that will pull in excess of 120K/day in WCG at stock speeds and stock voltages while drawing less than 400W
Sort of gets your blood running!
    Damn.. a wet spot...

Would be nice to see some real benchmarks to see if it's worth it, instead of supposedly speed gains coming from quick reports popping up on the net. Need real world software benches for proof. MM, you should start your own online test site like anandtech. At least we would get an honest review!

I'd actually really like to see someone here give this a shot - one of the well respected guys around here. Heck - if they're close I'd even lend them my systems to get a good basis going on the reviews.

24 hour prime stable? Please, I'm 24/7/365 WCG stable!

So you can do Furmark, Can you Grid???

Your enthusiasm for these new chips has me drooling with anticipation; I've got especially high hopes for Bulldozer. Can't...wait...much....longer...

Ya know, I never ever used to buy new tech stuff as soon as it came out. Now (for some reason), I'm squirreling away cash for products that aren't even on the shelves yet. I don't know why I changed, but I do know when: sometime around March 2010.

What my gut tells me now is that for "OUR" purposes there will be FOUR good choices.
Two in the low $ category, one in the single socket high end and Dear Lord in heaven,One brute of a dualie available.

I know I will be fighting to get the money for the Sr-2 replacement; Not sure what they will call it. I also hope that BD holds its own this time around. Either way, I am itching to buy something.
I am guessing about another month or 2 till we see the new items. I know the duallie/dually...will release approx a month later than single skt. I just hope the dually has 8 ram slots per cpu, because most of the single skt boards seam to only have 4 ram slots.

It's tough at this end also.
Those who know me know there's nothing I'd like more than to show all I've learned about these upcoming systems but when you give your word that you won't post the info till X date you have to honor that promise.

Me too. Have a AM3+ board sitting here waiting for BD. Has a 1055T on it right now but it goes to update a quad core when BD gets here. If I can get an 8 core that runs anywhere north of 4gz for $250 I will be very happy.

What's the $ category for the dualie? I'm hoping "Dear Lord in heaven" is about the performance and not the price tag.
