Question what happens to 'old'/un-used WBs? esp. GPU blocks?

as per tread title.. I occassionally see sale threads (mostly on another forum I frequent) pop-up with old CPU blocks.. & sometimes GPU blocks. WC'ing has been going on for years.. what happens to, say, a full cover 7800GTX block?

I know some folk don't give a dam about the environment, but it seems such a waste to throw blocks away - is there anyway to recycle them? I mean.. all that yummy copper.. what a waste!

Local junkyard will gladly buy your old copper. Used copper is still worth a lot of money. Where I live it's about 4-5€ per kg.

We have crack/meth heads ripping out copper wiring in houses for cash. Precious metals are always precious.
