    laptop graphics cards

I have an opportunity to get a nice laptop that I am told the graphics card is dying but otherwise it is fine. It is a Nvidia discreet card which it seems a lot of laptops have problems with these. I happen to have a radeon card but I am wondering if these are interchangeable like PCI Express in desktops? From the pictures of repair websites the slots look the same but I don't want to spend money and then have to turn around and buy another vid card. Does anyone have an answer for me? Thanks

What laptop is it? and though it may be an MXM type b slot, the nVidia cooling head, probably wont line up with the AMD card.

Thanks for the help. After I posted this I was able to find the different MXM slots. But you make an important point that if the chip isn't in the same place it still wouldn't work.

It was Asus but I don't know what kind. I let it go because of the above mentioned problem. I didn't have enough time to see whether mine would have worked.
