    advice needed

Ok let me start off by saying I don't know jack about cameras. My wife is pretty much the same way but would like to start off learning and such.
I have an opportunity to get a Nikon D3000, VR 18-55mm kit lens, extra battery, and 16gb card for about $270. This raises two questions.
    1) Is this as good of a deal as it seems?
    2) Is the VR 18-55mm lens a good all-around lens for a starter keeping in mind I really don't have any more money to buy a different lens.

    Thanks guys!

Perfect camera and price. Read absolutely everything on cambridgeincolor.com carefully. Understand that and you will know what to do in any situation.

    sweet thanks for the link.

new question: Are there plenty of lens out there for in the future when I decide I want a different one, especially macro lenses.

sure if you dont need anything specific done. maybe grab a 50-300 or 50-200 or 70-300 for long ranges if you want.
