Question M5015 RAID Card HDD and SSD Compatibility: same as LSI?

Can I assume that the IBM M5015 (rebranded LSI card) has the same hardware compatibility for HDD's and SSD's as the LSI MegaRAID SAS 9260-8i?

Some say the M5015 has an IBM BIOS. Is it likely that IBM has locked its HDD and SSD compatibility to only those supplied by IBM?

Any IBM M5015 user can shed some light?

I am using the same RAID card with 3 UniGen 50GB SSDs in a raid 0. works like a champ. Additionally, i also have a 64GB Intel X25 that works too...

The card does show up as an IBM raid controller, but the bios says its an LSI. I am just not sure about the M5015 being a rebranded 9260 though.

Just confirmed that the 5015 is actually the re-branded LSI 9260...
downloaded the firmware from LSI for the 9260-8i and flashed it via MegaCLI...

    C:\foo>MegaCli64.exe -adpfwflash -f mr2108fw.rom -a0

    Adapter 0: ServeRAID M5015 SAS/SATA Controller
Vendor ID: 0x1000, Device ID: 0x0079

Package version on the controller: 12.12.0-0047
Package version of the image file: 12.13.0-0104
    Download Completed.
    Flashing image to adapter...
    Adapter 0: Flash Completed.

    Exit Code: 0x00

    C:\foo>

    Thanks!

Phew, I'm not sure if I have the balls to flash the 5015 for a production server into its LSI counterpart. I wonder if it is stable.... IBM could have tweaked it internally which may not be 100% compatible with the LSI BIOS.
