Laptop died...How do I get my files back?

Hi all, I have an HP dv6000 laptop and the motherboard is done. I pulled the HDD to try to put it in an External enclosure and I found this...

There aren't the "traditional" SATA and Power connectors. I've never seen it and don't really know where to go from here. All the help I can get would be great.

    Thanks

its not pata its just a plastic adapter so u can pull the HDD out so it puts a pin style connector that attaches to the sata connector.

Perfect. It was just a cap that slid into the SATA/Power connectors. I took that off and put it in an external. Everything worked great. Thanks!!
