Yeah, I had also a love hate relationship with the first one. It had at it's core an amazing idea and fun game, but with just enough flaws from being badly ported to PC to make me angry. Also the CO-OP matchmaking was so terrible, I mean cmon Gamespy guys?

I played co-op with my buddy and for the first 50 hours or so, it was great fun. Terrible level/enemy scaling later in the game and thru all the DLC made it nearly unbearbale. Robolution DLC sucked bad.
I agree with what has already been said here... great concept and if they can work out some of the fundamental bugs out, the sequal could be great. Too early to tell. To be honest, RAGE looks to be the spiritual successor at this point.

rage looks no where near as fun or RPG like.
scaling needs to get fixed due to the way damage was increased or decreased based only on the difference between the player and enemy, 3 levels higher should not make them nearly immune, they should just have more health and do more damage.
customize the vehicles, its one of the funnest things in that game and its time too let people loose on what can be done. the result is you can have people spending a hundred hours just in a garage tweaking their ride. (weapons, seats, engines, aerodynamics, armor, suspension, all can offer visual differences AND control how it performs)
item finding felt too random, should offer a way to just let people build weapons too. they could still go with the random drops and shopping, but offer a way to break down current gear and use those stats to make your own gear (otherwise i would just use that hacking program to build my own stuff )
a good RPG makes you think just as much outside of combat as you do in combat. i dont think rage will make you think at all when your not surrounded by mobs

This game was fun (blowing heads) but ow man, so many hours of walking shooting get you tired even if you are just sitting on your butt...

For FPS RPG Fallout 3 was much better - agreed that it was more RPG and less combat while Borderlands does the opposite- but still, everything looked sensible and fun - Borderlands was more like senseless carnage. I am still waiting for a game that has RPG elements (mainly character development) yet allows exciting FPS combat.
Maybe Borderlands 2 should make an effort to go for a slightly more engaging storyline , and maybe make the combat even more exciting with Bulletstorm like taunt kills and deeper skill trees.

i hope that the game dose not make me go through the config to make it work like the 1st one, and i really want them to have more loot and the ability to turn off white drops.
u just need to revolver it in the eye right away then its perfectly doable since it wont target u anymore and the minions are not a big deal once u kill the initial batch
it made it over in l4d but it dose not work with the mouse and keyboard as windows and osx only support 1 of each or they fight each other. so it made u use the controller and then why bother since u will loose every time in vs.
