Angry new rig.. windows install problems incl. BSOD

got myself a new rig, specs as follows:

    Intel Xeon 5640
    Asus X58 Sabertooth *latest BIOS*
    GEIL 3x2GB DDR3-1600
    PC P&C 750W
    ATi 4350
    nV 7300LE
    X-Fi XM
    Crucial 128GB C300 *latest firmware*
    RaptorX
    2x Pioneer DVDRW

the problem(s): I can install windows. I get into windows for first time, install additional W7 features.. reboot.. it stays at the W7 animation for aaaaaages..then BSODs..

I have re-installed a few times. All installs end up roughly the same - the first install I did (last night), I installed windows, then additional features NO REBOOT, then ran windows update, restart, animation hang, BSOD

I swear I have the worst luck with PC gear

this morning I decided to check if the SSD had anything to do with it - I put the SSD into my laptop (C2D, 3GB, X1400 yaddayadda DELL ) - did everything fine - install, add features, update etc

so I chucked in a WD Black 1TB into the main rig - installed windows, add features, ran update - all went fine!

does my SSD not like my mobo??

all installs were done with AHCI set in BIOS

    any ideas?

nice system if you have a nice chassis too
maybe try installing the latest intel rst achi driver
looks like you isolated the conflict if the reason could be diagnosed the beast will be tamed
