    still confused about HDCP

HDCP is made to prevent copying of digital audio and video content as it travels across connections.

and if it noticed that one of the devices is not HDCP capable then it would play the audio or video at lower quality

how will this protect movies from people who copy them from a pc with a blu ray drive

and what about playing a backed up movie through hdmi from a pc ? will it change in quality ?

    thanks

No, unprotected content plays fine. I play all hd stuff from my computer as I refuse to swap my perfectly good plasma for a crappy lcd just because it doesn`t do hdcp.

Using some software allows you to remove the HDCP protection before backing up the movie to your PC. I also do believe HDCP was 'cracked' quite a while ago, quote me if I'm wrong.

there are hardware and software that can fix HDCP, and for the old HDTV plasmas and dlp there is a product called HDfury and it will convert HDMI with HDCP to dsub or dvi-a. they are starting to show up used now and they used to be a$100-200 but u can get one for $50 now.
