    TruControl 550, mod the PCB in the 5 1/4" panel..

    I was wondering, if i can replace the potentiometer inside the trucontrol front panel, with something of higher resistance, so i dont have to cut the wires in the atx connector.

    if i could remove the pins from the atx connector somehow, i'd do it that way, but i just can't figure it out..

    nevermind... it's impossible doing it this way, the pot is already set to 0ohms, and replacing it with another pot would be useless.



    3rd dimension, that's not a pic of my unit. I dont have the grill anymore, as I use this as floppy drive holder. sorry

    Why do you want to mod that? I was planning on buying a TC for myself too, as I have the normal TP version right now.

    Can't you adjust the voltages that far? Would be quite a stupid thing then...

    Supposedly the psu's overcolt kicks in at 4.1v (3.3v), 6.5v(5v), and 14.4v(12v).

    Does it actually get that far Stang_Man?

    Well, they say 5%, right?

    So that would bei round 3.46, 5.25 and 12.6?

    Should be really interesting to know. Still, if these voltages I just wrote here would be possible under load, for me it would still be sufficient

    The 5% I think refers to the percentage away from the standard rail voltages after a 20% load change has occured.

    That protects the psu if there has been a surge.

    Well, ok. I though the 5% was the maximum adjustment you could put ontop the normal voltages.

    On the other hand: I should see that very soon...

    I was playing around with my TC as well, and indeed when I rotate the VR's clockwise my multimeter says 0 ohm

    When you rotate them counterclockwise you increase the resistance, which lowers the voltage.

    But then again, if you decide not to connect the panel at all, you get very low rails, but that's just because certain pins are not connected together at that moment...

    Does anyone know of a way of modding the TC... whether it's inside the PSU or the panel?

    I haven't tried fiddling with the ATX connector, I might look into that later though
