[FUD] Bulldozer performance figures are in

The donanimhaber.com crew has run an engineering sample of AMD’s new FX-8130P through its paces and the results are very positive.

Although the chip fails to keep up with Intel cores in the SuperPI test, as we have already seen, it pulls ahead in other tests. For example, in x264 encoding tests, Bulldozer scores 136fps in the first pass and 45fps in the second pass, whereas the Core i7 2600K manages 100fps and 36fps respectively

Bulldozer manages to stay ahead in 3Dmark 11 tests as well. It scores P6250, while the 2600K hovers around the 6000 mark. In Cinebench R10 AMD’s new flagship pulls off a score of 24434 and outpaces the 2600K, but it ends up somewhat slower than the Core i7 990X.

Compared to the Thuban-based Phenom II X6 1100T, Bulldozer ends up about 50 percent faster in most tests, which is equally impressive.

It’s still too early to render a verdict, but at this point Bulldozer looks like a winner, especially if AMD manages to keep the price around the rumoured $320 mark. With Brazos and Llano doing fine, Bulldozer could be the last piece of the puzzle that turns things around for AMD in the high end. For the first time in years, AMD will truly have a competitive line up across its product range.

Was there ever talk of a release date for July, am I out of touch with the news regarding that?

Back at Computex, AMD had a slide where they said BD would be available from 60 to 90 days from today (June 6th, give or take a few days). Basically July to September timeframe. I'm betting they'll be released in early September.

As quoted by LowRun......"So, we are one week past AMD's worst case scenario for BD's availability but they don't feel like communicating about the delay, I suppose AMD must be removed from the reliable sources list for AMD's products launch dates"

The partial answer is yes, but thats not all of it, there are other changes that increase performance over Thublan also.

Pls be true, better late than never. How awesome would it be for this to ramp up Intel's recently announced delays for IB and SB-E.

This looks realistic. And can possibly get even better with a few firmware updates.
Now to see the OC figures!

nothing new here. what amd needs to do (besides bring products out on time) is get a new CEO for heavens sakes! enterprise buyers that i have talked to; see amd as unstable right now.

maybe the cache read/write is crippled on purpose...
    ---
    ---
"Generally speaking, CMOS power consumption is the result of charging and discharging gate capacitors. The charge required to fully charge the gate grows with the voltage; charge times frequency is current. Voltage times current is power. So, as you raise the voltage, the current consumption grows linearly, and the power consumption quadratically, at a fixed frequency. Once you reach the frequency limit of the chip without raising the voltage, further frequency increases are normally proportional to voltage. In other words, once you have to start raising the voltage, power consumption tends to rise with the cube of frequency."

100 fps in first pass (x264 bench) for i7-2600K? Where did Fuad get this number? 2600K should score well over 140fps in first pass (and this is w/o turbo). Also what the statement "Compared to the Thuban-based Phenom II X6 1100T, Bulldozer ends up about 50 percent faster in most tests" is based on? According to posted numbers it is not even close to 50%... hm...

Bulldozer manages to stay ahead in 3Dmark 11 tests as well. It scores P6250, while the 2600K hovers around the 6000

Every website will post these numbers as leaked benches! when in reality it's the same Chip that is going around for a while now ES is not a representative of the final product Or maybe it is but who knows that now?

I hope this is true, I was set on waiting for SBE/IB but they were delayed a bit too. If dozer comes out strong I'd be very happy to go with AMD again.

The Bulldozer Sample Chip Apparently Reached 5.1GHz
And Just Recently, Memory Was Overclocked To 2510Mhz

(EDIT, i was wrong, apparently benchmark versions differ GREATLY in performance, didnt know that)

Its not the same chip ,its new chip, leaks before were done on B0, thats a B1.Yes OBR had some "scores" before on it, but he didnt reveal anything of substance besides overclocking potential.

Those scores are from the x264 v3.0 benchmark, while the donanimhaber screenshot shows they're using version 4 of the benchmark, which generally gives significantly higher results in Pass 1.

I don't know what version was used in review you pointed at, but there are tons of results over the internet with the most recent version (r1913) which was used to test this ES.
    As for example:
