I don't know how many of you are familiar with PlanetSide, but its sequel was announced by SOE last night. The game is a FPS on a MMO scale. You will be fighting thousands of players in a constant world across multiple continents. There is three factions in the game Terran Republic, New Conglomerate, and Vanu Sovereignty. Each has its own specialization focus with in the game that applies to each empires arsenal of weapons. You see get more info checking out the website FAQ above.

There is still no hard release date or even beta. I just hope the game will have a proper launch and be released after the top FPS games this fall. I just do not see it being able to compete with them toe to toe at launch.

Oh man this was THE game! back in the day, had a lot of good memories playing with a 30+ group of people all on vent , tank squad infantry squad air squad, we where organized back in the day

Thanks for this one. For now I think it's safe to believe that this will be released in Q4 of this year. Also I believe the official title of this game is going to be 'PlanetSide Next'.

The game sounds like it is still in the development stage of making even the continent map. Only way we will see a fourth quarter release is a rushed product. PlanetSide Next was a blank slate name, PlanetSide 2 is the official name now.

I was just looking at some youtube videos of this on my iphone today and talking to a coworker about the first planetside , man the game was fun with massive raids etc. I am very interested to see what they will do now with all the new game engines out and with tech and video cards have advanced so much these days . I might just get back into this game
