MSI N560GTX TWIN FROZR II [User Review]

    Msi N560GTX Twin Frozr II

I have tested MSI GTX560 TF II/OC GPU fev weeks now and i took some pictures of it and did some benchmarkin.
Here i will show some information of the card and show u the card itself. Ofcourse there is normal 24/7 overclocking
achieved and i did litle comparing for GTX480 card at stock clocks

    Specs:

    GeForce GTX 560
    PCI Express x16 2.0
    4080MHz 1024MB GDDR5 Memory (256bit)
    Core Clock 870MHz
    336 shader units
    TDP 190W
2x DVI + Mini HDMI (HDMI Adapter included)
    DX11
    2560x1600 Max Resolution
    OpenGL 4.1
    SLI Support
    Card Dimension(mm): 238 x 112 x 40mm
    Weight: 705g

Card looks great and its almost similar compared gtx460 Hawk.

Here's what u get with the card: HDMI adapter, two peaces 2xmolex -> 6pin pci-e converter, dvi -> vga converter, Driver Disk, Quick User Quide.

Card have 2x Dual Link DVI and mini HDMI connectors.

It needs 2x 6pin pci-e connectors from ur power suply, but u can use molex->pci-e converters for that too.

Here u can see coolers four heatpipes and two 80mm PWM controlled fans.

    Backside of the card.

Removed cooler to see whats behind it. U can see that memory chips dont have any heatsinks, but VRM has it wich is good to see!

Closer look of VRM part. Heatsink helps alot users who wanna put gpu block on cards processor only and dont wanna buy expensive fullcover blocks.
I still recommend to use some fan blowing on that VRM area if ur using cooling like mentioned above..
Near Pci-e power connectors u can see vpll, vcore and vmem measure points. Card dont have any connectors for those, but extreme users can solder wires etc. on it.

Heatsink contact to components was good, like u can see.

3DMarks, Unigine Heaven and some game benchmarks

    Picture of bench setup.

    Test Setup:

Msi Big Bang XPower X58 motherboard
    Intel i7 980X cpu
    3x2gb A-Data 1866MHz CL8 memorys
Msi GTX560 TF II OC And Zotac GTX480
    P&C 610W PSU

    Settings of setup:
    Cpu = 4003MHz HT ON
    Uncore = 3481MHz
    Mem = Triple Channel 1740MHz 7-7-7-19 59 1T
After some bench results mine memory divider wasnt working anymore somehow so i need to make it
1400MHz 6-6-6-15 59 1T and i tested that it didnt make any reasonable changes for the results.

GPU settings: Fan on AUTO speed what users mostly use, so results are just like it would be at 24/7 clocks.
Used same clocks for every tests. Card would clock higher on some tests but its better to do all at same
clocks when this is just to show 24/7 performance with normal cooling.

    GPU on stock settings 870MHz/1020MHz
    GPU on overclocked settings 950MHz/1050MHz

    Used Game Benchmarks:

    Stalker Call Of Pripyat
    Final Fantasy XIV
    Aliens vs Predator

Was so hurry to instal windows and all programs and didnt have any time to instal more games in order to get this done in time.
Hopefully in future il be doing more things like this and then i have time to get more games tested

Here is settings used on game tests:

    Using Default Video Settings:

GTX560 can run pretty smoothly games at 1080 fullhd resolution and gives u a good performance for the price.
Ofcourse these game benchmarks isn't as accurate as gameplay itself.
Results would be different with sandy bridge overclocked over 4.5Ghz, but i think that most users are still using
older systems so this 4GHz would be pretty accurate for them too.

    Temperature Measure And Noise Lever

I dont have any expensive tools by myself so i can only tell what i think about noise level, i hope that helps even a bit..
I used this pretty cheap temp. meter to see how warm memory and VRM areas were during bench tests.
    http://www.scythe-usa.com/product/ac...00_detail.html
It should be accurate enough to do this kind of measurements.

All tests are done on +26c-27c roomtemp!

MSI promise 31c idle temperatures on gpu, here is what i got:

Its just like promised when u remember that my roomtemp is over +25c warm

Msi Kombustor on Stock settings and overclocked

On stock speed max gpu temp was 72c when fan speed was 62%.
U can hear fan very well at that speed and for me when it gets over 50%, i cant say that its quiet.
With custom fan profile u can get it better but it will heat more.

At overclocked gpu temp goes up to 77c and fan speed is 73%.
At those fan speeds u can hear it well even when playing with headset on ur head!

During Kombustor burn in test i measured memory and VRM temps too.
I did measurement behind the card and from many places and these is max temps what i got.
With watercooling i still recommend to keep some fan blowin on VRM parts!

    Final Words

MSI N560GTX TWIN FROZR II is a decent card for about 180euros priced gpu. This sample didnt overclock as well as i have seen these cards overclock,
which was a bit dissapointment for me. It's still factory overclocked and still went up 80MHz so i cant say it overclocks bad neither
Card didnt scale well with voltage increase, so it looks like this sample likes more about cold temps and maybe we will see better overclocking
    with watercooling!

Fan is just like we have used to see from Twin Frozr II, it keeps temperatures low even at overclocked clocks/voltages and it is one of quietest factory coolers on market.
With more massive fans it would move air good with lover fan speeds and keep sound level better. This is only what i think about it and i could be wrong about that one!
I liked this card much and didnt have any problems with it or with drivers.
With full hd resolution this GPU is good enough to play, but with 26"-30" screens i recommend to spend extra money for more powerful GPU like GTX570/580.

This cards price is near to GTX560 Ti card price which will make people think, is it better to buy this one or spend about 30euros more to get GTX560 Ti card,
    its up to you!

I will do more 3dmark tests later when i got more time and will update results here. (With SB this time and gpu on watercooling atleast)

I hope this is useful for some users. This is my first time doing thing like this so i got much to learn and i like to know what u want me do different
next time and what u specially liked
So give me feedback inorder to get me do better user reviews on future!
My english could be bad, so tell me if there is something really wrong writed

Thanks for MSI letting me test this great GPU!!

nice work lad, any LN2 coming our way ?
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Thanks I would want to make some LN2 tests with it, but first i have to get my all other components tested with LN2 before playing with this one (So damn overpriced here)
I have my single stage here, maybe i will put it on this somehow and see how this scales with it first after watercool test.

At least MSI are putting VRM sinks on those things unlike with the 460s. VRM sinks they are using though I can't help feeling looks very wimpy.
