its not the mosfets that get hot...its the inductors/chokes...

** yep i used heatsinks..i think they helped also for unigine

Hello guys, This is Hendra from Indonesia. Congratz to all winners, it was awesome battle

@Honda: Yup, no heatsink on it just like Vivi. I think it shoud be no problem since it didn't get warm at all. Dunno what causing the problem yet, the mosfet just flew away when the gpu under load, maybe my adreline made me put more and more voltage so it can't handle more voltage anymore.

Btw what voltage did u put on the card?

@Lucky_Pro: Thanks for ur GPU Pot buddy. You should be here next time

    (unigine) +620mv

iris and hendra are female names, are you a girl? no offense intended lol

@splave software monitoring probably reads a diode not on the mosfets. it was prolly reading temps near the inductors

It may not feel hot but the cooler a MOSFET runs the more power it can deliver. These new gen MOSFETS have a built in heatspreader but that doesn't mean they can handle the crazy amounts of power we throw at them, imo sinking them is a good idea...especially after seeing that one with a blown top courtesy of IRIS

i think just having the heatsink there...at least the driverfet won't fly...LOL

Congrats on the wins guys. Some intense scores at the end of this

@IRIS - Holy I've seen FETs meltdown, I've seen electricity arc across stuff but I've never seen a FET fly off a PCB. "Flawless Victory"

@Hondacity - I had 1 580 Lightning that was a Gunslinger reject. It only could do 1240MHz through 3D11 regardless of volts/temps. I did find a new way to bench though.. F1EE on one of my best 580 DC2s was cruising through 3D11 at 1400 w/o a problem. Didn't push it any further due to frost and it not being eligible. F1EE on GPU is the future

Hondacity has a great example of exactly what I did. I insulated w/ liquid electrical tape and vaseline but it came out the same The GTX580 is no match for a pissed off F1EE

Very nice You kill any PCIe cables? Found out the hard way not to pull the connector free by the ribbon cable. Luckily I bought a few spares.

Which paste were you using by the way? Was using GC Extreme and EVGA Frostbite and noticed no difference due to crappy lightning core.

    1. phobia paste = gcx, i haven't tried that yet...might try it tomorrow...i still have overtime today..
    2. evga frostbite is very good to about 1500mhz
**no dead pcie cable. i only have one, so i tried really carefully removing them.

I also tried the monster inflection pot...that was also good.

    here's the pastes

    @sandlewood: Thanks bro

@Honda: No mate, i'm boy for sure... how could it seems like a girl name to you? x_x.

That's so nice prep by you. where did you get the PCI Extender by the way? Can you PM to me? I keen to try that

@Gomeler: yeah, that's also my first time to see that fet flew somewhere. Sh*t happened so that card now just become history

@ME4ME: Thanks.. it should be shin-etsu paste. found one on local store before.

@me4me I haven't tried it subzero, I will in a few days. It spreads ok which is one factor I look for. sorry I don't want to remove ihs
@iris its widely available look for "pcie ribbon" or extender or pm me or Gomeler.

nah i tested my vrm area with heat measuring gun, i think maybe AB is reporting temps too high,

but anyway with or without seems to be fine

Haha honda F1EE. Sheez, i also mounted my CPU pot but it couldnt hold the load down either gah!

Those don't work well on reflective surfaces like metal mosfet cases. Use fingers or paste and a probe
