I.M.O.G. and Dolk from Overclockers.com (OCF) invited me (OCN) and Icebob (Pure) to come out and play with some liquid nitrogen at the Microcenter in Brentwood, St. Louis. We ended up benching on Saturday from around 11:30 until 8:00 and on Sunday from 11:00 until 3:00, when we ran out of LN2.
To begin, the event was a huge success. On Saturday, we had quite an impressive crowd a few times, numbering around 20 people standing around talking and asking questions and learning about overclocking in general. Sunday was a bit slower but there were definitely still people wanting to know what we were doing.
It was interesting to try and gauge the relative tech knowledge of each person to better explain exactly what was going on. For some, it was "we're making it really cold so we can make it go faster." and for others it was a pretty intricate explanation of the efficiency transistors and the effect that temperature has on it.
As this was my first chance to play around with LN2 I consider the event a great success, despite the limited tangible results I achieved. In fact, I only killed one piece of hardware--a DVD drive. I have no idea what happened... I plugged it in, it made some bad sounds and then spit some parts out... But as I'll explain below, Moparman was there to save the day.
So now to the thanks... First off, huge thanks to OCF for allowing me to join them. They were even prepared to let me play with some of the boards Gigabyte sent them when my RIIIE was acting up (though it was quickly remedied). Second, thanks to XtremeCuztoms for here on OCN for letting me borrow his GPU pot. Though I have nothing to show for it yet, it was awesome to use and almost pass Vantage before the LN2 ran out (). Third, thanks to Icebob for allowing me to borrow his spare thermo and probe when mine started acting up!
And finally, thanks to Moparman. He came out to see what we were doing and asked if he could bring some hardware. I totally underestimated what he meant when he said that... he had everything. He brought two 8800GTSs, two GTX 460s, his 1090T and motherboard, and tons of other stuff. He let me play with both of the 460s, gave me an 8800GTS, and even gave me a DVD drive once mine kicked the bucket. He ended up killing his motherboard when he and I.M.O.G. were trying to clock his 1090T. Basically, the man is a legend in his kindness and helped make the event as memorable as it was.
Now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing, I'll be doing more LN2 soon (possibly tomorrow). With that said, here are the two results I got. I'm not especially happy with them, but it's all I have to show! I'll get some better stuff soon

Here are some of the photos that Moparman took. I'll have some that were taken with a proper camera tomorrow.
And here are a few that I uploaded before I forgot my flash drive at work I believe they were taken by I.M.O.G.
Gigabyte sent these for the event
And here are a few photos that aren't of my rig :p
And Moparman himself!
Since I was the first one there on Sunday morning, I took a few pictures as well:
This was my station as I was setting up for the second day:
Here's the 8800GTS Moparman gave me. It didn't work when I tried it initially... but I'm going to clean it up and give it a go on air.
And finally, my only casualty of the weekend:
