6gb vs 12gb speeds and latency questions

    Hey peeps

    I need some advice please.

    I've currently got 3*1 gb corsair dominators. I've got my I7 @ 3.8Ghz and mem running at 1600 7-7-7-20 1T

    Should I just get:

    1. another 3*1gb kit (this will be the cheapest option, but not by much, unless I can get a second hand kit)

    2. A 3*2gb kit lower latency 1600Mhz kit (if you recommend this option please give me 3 different kits I should be looking at)

    3. The Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz 3*4Gb kit.

I mostly play games and dabble a bit in overclocking. If I'd opt for option 2 or three I'll get rid of my current 3*1 kit.

    You advice/suggestions will be appreciated.

It depends on how much memory you use. I have 16GB in my computer, and I frequently use 12-13GB. But that is just cause I run a Minecraft server and do other stuff on my computer (MC server uses 6GB by itself). So if you are not doing much except for internet browsing and playing a game then 6GB should be fine for now. If you want some extra so you dont have to worry, then get the 2GB stocks and run with 9GB total:

Memory is very cheap right now, I'd go for the 12GB kit and get rid of the 3x1GB kit.
You should only go for one of the other options if you're really short of cash.

I always say do it right or don't do it at all.

My vote goes for option number 3...
