Post Open IT Positions - Let's Help Our Fellow XSers

As some of you may know, about once a year I try pitching an idea - creating an "Open Jobs" subforum or sticky post that XS members can benefit from. So far I really haven't garnered enough interest to make that happen, but I thought it's about time for another try. If you like this thread let me know. If not, well, post in it to save me the time of trying again next year

So what is the goal of this thread? To come together as a community to help our members find first jobs / new jobs. A lot of the member base works in or around the IT field, in different levels and different countries, and I think we can really help each other out... especially those members who are still in school or are wondering about getting in to the field and who aren't sure what jobs might be available or what qualifications necessary.

I am not looking to have people post ads from Monster.com here - we can search Monster.com for those. Let's just post up those jobs that you know are out there that may not be advertised (and for the love of all that is good, no recruitment company employees allowed).

Guidelines to posting help wanted notices in this thread:
    0. All posts must be for positions that strictly fall into the IT domain. They can range anywhere from PC repair technician to IT Architect, but let's leave things like Clerk/Typist positions out - let's say the position must require the use of a computer beyond the basic Microsoft Office suite.
    1. All posts must include a position title (official or simply descriptive)
    2. All posts must include the city/state/country that the position is in
    3. All posts must include basic qualifications necessary to apply (ie. education, experience, certification).
    4. All posts must include some basic description of job duties.

All respondents take note: Although some positions may require or be aided by contacting the positions poster first (ie. to provide a recommendation to the employer prior to resume submittal), you are STRONGLY advised that resumes should be forwarded only to the HR department of the company who is hiring unless you have reason to trust the poster with any information they will see on it. Under no circumstances should personal identification information such as social security numbers be posted here or exchanged via PM using XS.

It would be rather poor of me to start this thread and just leave it to bob on its own, so I'll get things started with a few positions. I know of a grotesque number of jobs in the St. Louis area between just 2-3 firms alone, but I'm going to hit some highlights. I know the companies I am posting about well and am willing to provide personal recommendations to the right candidates.

    Location:
All jobs below are in the St. Louis metro area, though the right candidate may be able to work remotely. Moving compensation may be available for all positions for the right candidate but I can't promise it.

    Misc.
With only one exception every job I list below is open for two companies I know very well - one is a local pharmaceutical and will most likely be contract-based work and the other is for a local consulting company and will likely be permanent. Job descriptions will vary slightly between the two companies, but largely just regarding who the work is done for... eg. with the pharmaceutical you would be performing work for your employer, for the consulting company you could be working for various clients on a per-day/week/month basis. Full disclosure up front: There is a bounty on positions from the consulting company. I'm happy to split it 50/50 with the candidate if hired. The pharmaceutical offers me no benefit for helping them.

I have only given brief outlines below due to how many there are... PM me for further details about any position.

Edit: Looks like I forgot to mention - the Pharmaceutical is Forest Pharmaceuticals. References available for the right candidates. The consulting company I'll keep a bit tighter just because there is a bounty out for them that I can grab, but if anyone wants the name but not the personal reference I'll be glad to give that out via PM.

I think its a good idea. I support it.
This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions, twists all our arms collectively, but if sweetness can win, and it can, then I'll still be here tomorrow to high-five you yesterday, my friend. Peace.

This is a most excellent idea. Furthermore, I know some XS user must work for the major IT corporations and have some contacts. I know I'm currently searching for an internship with a global corporation. The more internships the better chance I have with job placement after graduation!

Go to any hardware/software vendor website and check the Careers section under About Us.
That is how I got my job.

Options vary from intern/junior positions to directors and executives for many fields including HW/SW development, support, sales, marketing, internal operations, analysis.
Make sure to have your CV and motivational letter on why you want to have certain position and what will make you good at it ready.

And on top of that the majority of open positions aren't even posted. I don't remember what the percentage is, but companies learned a long time ago that they get better employees by referrals than by outside hiring and tend to only open up positions after lengthy internal discussion.

What kind of company are you looking to intern with? Or, maybe the better question is, what would you like to do during your internship?
