Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!
any performance update with these drivers? Can we please stop talking about the mouse lag issue....
Nothing anymore
yeh, but all for 6xxx aparenly 5xxx and the rest are dead...
With every new generation ATi stops having any interest in the older ones - they still have a "general support" and that's about all there is to it... long gone are the days when they tried to enhance a newly released product for years to come in parallel with the new generations.Highlights of the AMD Catalyst 11.6 Windows release includes:
New Features:
AMD Steady Video
Steady Video is currently an AMD exclusive feature based on AMD APP Technology
By applying advanced algorithms behind the scenes, users do not have to deal with shaky or unstable video ever again!
Capabilities scale with hardware and are end user controlled
Image Stabilization brought to YouTube!
Decode Acceleration of MPEG-4 part 2 content
AMD has enabled decode acceleration of MPEG-4 part 2 content in Microsoft video player applications (through MFT support) for all AMD Radeon 6000 Series
Performance Enhancements
Performance highlights of the AMD Catalyst 11.6 release includes:
Performance gains in Crysis of up to 7% on AMD Radeon HD 6000 series single card configurations.
Performance gains in F1 2010 of up to 8% in DirectX 11 mode on AMD Radeon HD 6000 series products in single and Crossfire configurations.
Performance gains in Far Cry 2 of up to 5% on AMD Radeon HD 6000 series products in single and Crossfire configurations.
Performance gains in HAWX of up to 8% on AMD Radeon HD 6000 series products in single and Crossfire configurations.
Performance gains in the Unigine OpenGL tests of up to 10% on AMD Radeon HD 6000 series single card configurations.

A misconception that many people have.

The 5xxx have had more gains than the 6xxx up until now when looking at the true numbers even though the 5xxx are not mentioned in the notes for improvements so who's to say that older cards don't see improvement too..
My friend who is using 3870 cf still seeing performance improvements.
Edit: just posted.

No lag here and I'm using 10.1 drivers. Old and supposedly affected not sure why I don't have it. Could be related to my frigging about with the refresh rate when i used an mx518 or the razer lachesis or its drivers.

I've been trying hard to find this mouse lag too, never found it before they fixed it. Guru3d users are reporting that the mouse lag got transferred to the top left instead. Honestly, this is a non-issue. For the top left lag, I found it to be true, though I honestly don't care, and I'll never see it unless I purposely do it.
Well apart from that, no difference to me on other aspects, as I've been using 4890.. no more perf enhancements heh.
Huum till the right bug is fixed ( and yes like other, without knowing , i will never have find it.. ) .. but no, i have try and whatever i made ( put a game in window, have FF window / full screen, or OS/software windows etc ) i can't reproduce it on the left side with last drivers ... I can make a video if you want ... i call it a psy symptomatic effect . ( after have search the right side during 2 months for see if it was fixed i ask me if they don't reproduce it on the left by themselves.
