    RAWR! Where is my sandy!?

I've gone through 10 2500k I still can't find one that has a Max multi of 54+. Is it that uncommon to find? I know some of you guys go through more CPUs than me but it's just a lil frustrating...sigh

unless I'm doing something wrong...this is what I do

    - set it to two cores
    - set vcore to 1.55v
    - boots into windows at 52 and 53 multi
    - 54 won't boot into windows but will get stuck at the windows logo
    - up the vcore to 1.57, 1.60, 1.65v still no go...

then I follow the Asus Reps sugggestion for anything over 5.0
    - but nothing...

If PLL OV is enabled, then you're just getting unlucky

Both of my 2600k's can boot at x54 max, with 2 cores (obvious since they can do X49 with PLL OV disabled).

Whats the max mp of your chips with cpu pll overvoltage disabled?

Quick test for high multi should have PLL OV and 2 cores disabled, OP has it exactly right. The golden ones do 55x or more with 2 cores @ 1.55v and PLL OV disabled.

    I've had 6 x 52x, 7th is a 53x (all 2500k). Given up .

if it sees the windows logo then it's a matter of tweaking voltages and maybe getting it colder... if it only displays the blinking cursor then you are in deep doo doo

we bin them like this :

2 cores, HT off, PLL Overvoltage enabled
    All C states off
    1.55VCore

Max multi is found in a matter of minutes, if you take windows XP ( which is harder to post into then Windows 7/Vista )
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

so I decided to bin my first chip that I got, I booted into windows at 55x with 1.65v, all c-states off, pll overvoltage enabled and 2 cores disabled. I tried to do it for a second time but NOOOOO! It wouldn't boot into 55x anymore. What do you guys think the problem is? I can boot just fine at 54x and get a cpu validation with all cores on.

Every CPU I had did it's best in first few hours, then it got stable at somewhat higher voltage. Burn-in time I suppose?

like how much of a better cooling? Perhaps a real h20 loop? I'm running an H60 with push/pull shin-etsu thermal paste
