Again - I KNOW how to use RBE, it just s up the bios on those particular Sapphire Extreme 5830 cards even if all I do is load & save with RBE (without changing anything). The cards do support voltage adjustment (with TriXXX), GPU registers are not accessible with RBE though, so I didn't change anything. They don't need more than the stock 1.163V for 1Ghz core anyway (thanks to water cooling), so that's not an issue either.

Whats the best way to go about setting this all up correctly and what sort of coin turnover would i likely see in a 24hr period?

If i can have part of the farm paying for its self that would be great!

Your first question takes a lot to answer! Windows or linux? How are you going to cool multiple cards? Take note that you need a "dummy plug" to run cards not connected to monitors in Windows. Check out our own [How To] thread to get up & running in Windows.

Question related to miners:

Is IC Diamond considered okay on bare dies? I know that it is kind of abrasive, I lost the etchings on heat spreaders more than once so.. did anyone use it directly on dies yet?! I think I need to re-TIM at least one card..

i wouldn't use it on direct GPU dies. i used it on my CPU and it scratched the laser etching of the CPU, and also scratched the mirror finish of the heatsink's base. on skinny's lab review of the various TIM, he had to stop using the IC diamond during the roundup because of the scratches he was getting on the CPU. i'm not trying to scare u away from using this good TIM or anything, it may or may not hurt the GPU, but better safe than sorry especially on bare die

Nope, we have one of the highest energy prices in the world. About 0,22€ per kWh which is about 0,30 USD. Not all of those GPUs are for me though. I already had 2 5870s for my gaming needs and when I read about the bitcoin concept, I figured it would be a fun project without too much risk, as I already had a lot of stuff to get started. 2 friends wanted to join in on the fun, and I warned them for the great risks which comes from starting from the scratch. They decided to try it anyways.

Anyway, I've bought one 5850 for my main rig, and build a single quadfire 5850 rig as a dedicated miner. In the end, I've spend about 1000€ on equipment, and consumed a bit over 500 kWh. It netted me over 55 bitcoins already, so I've already over break even if I decide to stop now and sell the stuff. All in all I've had a blast participating in this fun little project, so whatever happens now, I'm a happy camper. Hopefully it's gonna generate a bit more, though! Never gonna hurt

Oh boy that may be a hard configuration to get working. I know my two slot systems have big cooling problems with 80% fan speeds, 3 may be hard to pull off. I recommend a box fan for a side panel!

Yeah I'm gonna have to second that. I only got a three gpu setup to work because my awesome old school dfi board has the three slots spread apart more than normal. I love it

Then get x1 -> x16 adapter and you're set This is my plan: I will run normal 2x5870 and 2x5830 on extenders. Cooling - shouldn't be a problem. Power efficiency improved as only 1 system will be running. 2 PSUs (680+700W) will suffice.

i've got 2 fans blowing into the side on the cards, but with the 3 cards in there it does get warm !!!

I have removed the middle card and will probably put it in another PC somewhere

pc1: 2 hd5830's (default clocks) = 250 MH/s + 247 MH/s = 497 MH/s

pc2: gtx570+gtx460 (default clocks) = 117 MH/s + 47 MH/s = 164 MH/s
mining with nvidia? sure! and that 570 solved a block while mining solo mode in less than 10 minutes (lucky shot) so they can rest from mining now

I also have a hd5670 runnning in a friend's pc which adds 81 MH/s.

I've read that with Catalyst 11.7 dummy plugs are not necessary (anyone can confirm it?)...

I still have 1.5 weeks left in Ireland. After that I will go back home with cheaper electricity (~€0.17) and will think about dedicated miner (only if until then current cards will pay off and it seems they will). But i will go with cheap-o MB and x1 extenders
