    [BenchBros] MSI Lightning hits 1665 MHz ... 181580 3DMark03

    Hey guys,

today we give our good Lighting another try.

Last time together with SuicidePhoenix we could achive outstanding 180k in 3DMark03 but not more coz of running out of LN2...

This time we started with 3DMark03 and our goal was it to top our last score with our own new CPU. but we've seen that it is hard to compansate 200 MHz missing CPU Clock in 3DMark03 ...

    Setup:

    Intel Core i7-2600K
    ASUS Maximus IV Extreme
    MSI N580GTX Lightning
    Corsair Dominator-GTX2 2x2GB
    Corsair AX1200W PSU
    Csorair R120 SSD

    Cooled by Ryba's Fat Pot!

Card is OCP modded, Voltage was GPU +500 mV (1,55V) and Memory +170 mV (1,8V)
    Temp: full Pot unter Load

    1665 MHz means Stock (832) x2

still third place but a lot more impressive we think... this is the absolute Max of this card, more voltage didn't help, it's just more hard to handle.

So we are looking forward to the next session together with SuicidePhoenix 5930 CPU + 1665 GPU = 184k ?

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to MSI, ASUS and CORSAIR

Well, I'm glad you didn't take out stummerwinter's score. No one wants to lose a WR on their birthday.

    it's just 100% + 1MHz

coz Stock Clock (Air BIOS) of the Lightning it 832 MHz just in the LN2 BIOS the Clocks are reduced to Reference Stock

Yes... we need OCP mod past 1650Mhz and 1,55V.
    1700mhz crashed in GT4

Make two profiles in Afterburner. Bench GT1, GT2 and GT3 at 1700MHz, then press the shortcut key for Profile 2 (whatever key you assign for profile 2) while GT4 is loading and bench it at 1665MHz

I think it was Troll's Lair when the Troll's start to fight...

Goerge, we will give it a try next time, maybe some more fps in GT2 are possible. But better CPU will give it a very much higher Kick

It's 116% over Reference card, but "just" 100% over Stock Lightning

What are the signs of an OCP issue?

I was testing another Lightning card today, when vgpu touched 1.55 under load, the red and green pcb lights would go out and vgpu would drop to .228 and it would need to be powered off to restart.

if it is PSU, the System will shut down fully

if it is OCP you got a Black Screen, Voltage of the GPU goes to 0V
If you just have Clock issues the voltage Stay at the Value what you set before.

    So your's sounds like OCP.

1.55V is a lot for the lighting, maybe you don't need so much, I think lightnings need's 0,1V less then DCU's for equal clocks.
