"The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", Hollywood is giving it a go.

Haven't read the books nor seen the three movies that is already out there, but this Trailer really got me pumped to read and see them as well as eagerly awaiting Hollywood's take on the story.

The song btw is a heavily remixed version of the Led Zeppelin - Immigrant song

uuuh.. this is just the third movie in the series, the first two are already released.

    Trailer was better than most.

    Not quite.

All three films have been made and released in Sweden (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest), but this is the first of the English language adaptations, and also the first story in the series.

They might have been dubbed in English when they were released near you, but they certainly weren't filmed that way. And the DVD and Blu-ray releases all have the original language with the option of choosing dubs or subtitles.

Other than a phrase here or there, it was originally all in Swedish.

If you don't believe me, go queue any of them up on Netflix. It defaults to subtitles with the original audio.

    So to be most correct:

The movies were made in Sweden originally.

    English dubs were shown elsewhere.

English remakes are being made now... so now we get to watch the same movies again with lips that synch up correctly..

Basically yes, but I imagine the production value will be at a completely different level.

Given that this is a sort of "thriller-drama" with a dense mystic criminal plot I have some doubts that a person who has seen the first adaptation will be that interested as the plot would have been revealed.
But then again, I have not seen nor read this, so I might be wrong.

The Swedish version of the films with English dubbed in were actually pretty good - at least the dubbing did not distract from the movie. It will be interesting to see if the new production can manage to keep the kind of creepy / gritty feeling of the originals.
