    TJ07 Roof Mod question

Just a question for you all

I have my old TJ07 case sitting here that I would like to put back into use and thinking of doing a water cooling setup with this.

I really like the Swiftech H20-320 Edge Water Cooling Kit. The triple rad kit I am looking at.

I believe in order to fit this in the roof of a TJ07 I would need to do a roof mod. Thats fine and I don't mind doing some mod work.

In doing this I see this roof mod kit
    http://www.chilledpc.co.uk/shop/prod...oducts_id=1942

Is there any place in the US that might sell this or something like it that anyone knows of ?

I am not sure of actual price of this kit to get to my door but it seems a little costly. £40.00 = $65.47 + Shipping etc ?
I have sent them a email to ask if that price is for the modding service + roof mod kit, or if just the kit cost that much.

    Thanks

All you need is an AC Ryan grill. I am sure PPC's sell them.

EDIT: Here is one that should work http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...ducts_id=28823

    Perfect and thanks !
So then if needed I could just use screws and spacers to lift this up if needed.

Or the A.C. Ryan grills have holes to actually mount the grill to the case and I could use spacers with that if needed.

Sorry if dumb questions, I am not sure just how far I would need to lift the Swiftech kit up to clear the motherboard inside.

this is why u invert the board on a TJ-07.

So it gives you breathing room at the top.

Otherwise its going be a very tight fit if i remember correctly.

Sorry its been 2008 since i last touched a TJ-07.

The ChilledPC item is not a kit, but a service they provide.

I think it would much easier to put the radiator in the basement than cut the roof.

Yes I have thought of that also, but the problem is I had the big Raid down in that area back when everything was in the TJ07.

The plan is to go for a SB system and then water cool CPU first, then GPU's later.

The Raid I think is going to go and then just run off a single Intel SSD. These old MTRONs are showing there age and time to move on, or its getting very close to it.

    Thanks everyone.
I was just trying to figure out what options I had with this TJ07 thats been sitting under my desk forever it seems. I want to get my rig off of the bench type setup and back into the TJ07 so trying to plan out how I can do all this.

The item from Chilled is a kit.
It comes with a grill (ChilledPc's own design - Pulse Modding) & a 6mm spacer so you can fit a thicker rad in the top.
You could always fit a thin rad in the top anyway. The Black Ice GT Stealth 360 will fit.

Have you dropped Tom a note regarding just supply the kit. (tell him Piggin sent you)

Also have you seen the large range of TJ07 items they have.

Yes I did see all the items they have and I have sent in a email, just waiting for a responce. There kit looks like the best imo., I was just concered about the cost of the kit and not sure if its the same price for just the kit, or if that includes modding.

Clearly I am not going to send my case to the UK to be modded but would rather do it my self like has been done here.

IMO putting a rad on roof of tj07 is sin. You can easily put your hdds in space for 5"1/4 drive bays and put nice rad in the bottom.

Buck have u ever cut a case b4?
And not just a case, but a thick case?

Because u cant do that on a 07 without cutting it up top and have it support a 120x3.

The top is thick also, so it will take a LONG time on a dermel.

Do you really need a 120x3 up top? Most people end it with a 120x2 which requires almost no modding.
And just use the lower bays for the radiator.

Yeah I have cut plenty of cases, not a TJ07 tho., but I would not use a dremel except to smooth out rough spots. I have a good power saw to do the job.

Yeah I have to think about this some more LOL

it would be much safer on your heart if you bought 2 x 2.5 sas backplanes like i showed u, and moved your radiators in the bottom, and NOT CUT such a beautiful case.

to be honest there's very few people id trust to cut a 07...

Or you could get the Koolance rad top and install it with a riser. It would be external but you would not be modding the case.

    You mean one of these?

lol... might as well get 2 stacks and just make that a external complete loop.

You know I thought about that also, I do like the looks of them.

I was wondering if these were any good tho.
Price is a bit high, plus I would need a CPU block and a few other odd's and ends.

in all honesty your better off customing a setup, moving your drives up, and using your lower bays for a 120x4 + 120x2 and ending it there.

Putting the cpu on the 120x2.
All your other wants on the 120x4.

And you would get much better temps then that exos unit because u have way more radiator coverage in your lower bay.
