Want to OC my ram. Need advice.

I have recently built a new rig (see sig for specs). I want to try to OC the ram but so far I have had ZERO luck.

I have only tried a few times, and what I did was to try things like selecting DDR1866 and loosen the timings, plus add some voltage. No luck at all. I have no clue what 90% of the ram setting do so I have been leaving everything else on auto.

Last try was to set volts at 1.65, select DDR1866, and 9-9-9-24. Wont even boot.

    The ram is Ripjaw X DDR1600 2x4GB, 8-8-8-24 1.5v.

Boy that info was old. As am I. Currently my kids have taken over my desktops. They are both sporting matching GTX1080's. Last Christmas I got everyone Oculuses and thus GTX1080's. My eldest is some sort of CSGO champion gold label something or other. Me I work and shoot real guns. Build Comps as needed.

in the same boat, but with Corsair Vengeance 1600CL9. have no luck overclocking or tightening RAM, even though they work 100% stably at 1600MHz 9/9/9/24/1T at an impressive 1.26V

    1600MHz 8/9/8/27/2T 1.65V doesn't work. freezes after a while
    1866MHz 9/10/9/27/2T 1.65V doesn't even POST
    1866MHz 11/11/11/30/2T 1.65V POSTs but freezes after a while.
how the heck can they run at 1600MHz with just 1.26V??? most people are getting them past 1900MHz with 9/10/9/27/1T 1.65V. why am i so unlucky with overclocking?
