I think that 8 slots are bit useless. Today we can have 4x8GB .. do we really need more? Even when Im doing quite a lot PS work, I would probably never needed more than 4x4 .. and I have just 3x2! Plus as I remember 6 slots for X58, it needed quite a lot of juice to keep it stable. I doubt 8 slots will be different.

If the QF LGA 2011 board (it sill has no name, right?) is able to provide strong memory overclock at tight timings (like BloodRAGE do), 4 ram slots are fairly enough .

My thoughts exactly. They should name it simply BloodRage II. They could even establish BloodRage line-up as trademark for best mobo from them. ASUS is doing that similar way.. And BloodRage is kinda catchy. Tho unfortunately Foxconn marketing sux, and QF is almost like it doesnt exist..

The board design is far away from BloodRAGE style and brilliance, although again in black-red scheme. It is similar to Rattler, so the name possibly will be something like that. And BloodRAGE will remain "The One and Only" .

ps. The Foxconn marketing is not good enough, but more important will be the bios support, as mentioned above.

I'm disappointed with the weak heatsinks on the vrm area and the southbridge area. The looks are weak and the size is weak. Competitors have really nice beefy heatsinks on these areas.

And with 2 less ram spots, I'm sure your engineers could've widened out the cpu socket area and added a larger heatsink on vrm moseft area. This looks like a low-end board.

And no auxiliary connectors for cpu or pcie. SB heatsink is pathetic. No word on how pcie lanes split either.

Im currently deciding between the UD5 and the Intel board. Probably go UD5.

Big heatsinks, sometimes with small high-RPM fans - they are not a good solution. Small fans are huge noise makers and X79 PCH itself is not hot, so the huge heatsinks/fans there are unnecessary. About the VRM area - it's ideal design to put there 3rd party waterblock (and on PCH too, but as mentioned, it's not needed). It's extremely easy to remove the stock cooling on that board, not the same on the competitors' boards .

Nowadays noone from Foxconn/Quantum Force is reading/writing here. Lord Trident was the last of mohicans. We are all alone .

The same is on BR - not a problem, I've used BR with 4 one-slot HD5770 - it's still alive.

UD5 is better, Intel Silar has some restrictions. And UD7 is better also.

Im restricted to those two choices as I need a pci slot . No way im ditching my soundcard!

Yeah im not totally convinced in the need for auxiliary pcie, but cpu definitely. These new chips pull epic wattage over 5ghz. On multirail PSU's the extra connectors can definitely be worthwhile.

From what I saw the intel board didnt do great with pcie lane division and also doesnt offer ddr sqews for running with 8 dimms. Other than that it looked sweet. The UD5 seems to tick every box however, but the one review Ive seen has said it doesnt clock cpu as well as the other boards out. However that is Vortez who probably had to rtfm just to stick the ram in so taking that with a pinch of salt is advised.

Either way ill be waiting til around xmas/new year time so there's plenhty of time yet for me to change my mind .

Already discussed the pci case on another forum and there is another solution - something like that:

The converter backplane should be removed and the soundcard will stand higher - with one long M3 screw to fix it. On UD7, for example .
