    It's an overclocked Intel

It's getting pretty crowded at the top of the SSD market...

From what I've read it's SF-2200 based...meaning uncompressed writes after the drive has been fully used will be about 45% lower than theoretical max.

Looking at the pics in that review, the NAND (29F64G08CBAAB) is 25nm synchronous and not asynchronous like the first post says. Meaning that it will perform like a Vertex 3. The Vertex MAX IOPS and the Wildfire perform better due to the 34nm Toshiba NAND (at least the 120GB versions will).

Anand's Guide to Micron NAND Deciphering:
As always, we look at the part number to tell us what's going on. Micron's part numbers are a little different than Intel's but the key things to pay attention to here are the 128G (128Gbit packages, 16GB per package) and characters 11 and 14. Character 11 here is an F, which corresponds to 2 die per package (2 x 8GB 25nm die in each NAND device) while number 14 is an A, indicating that this is asynchronous NAND. To date I've only encountered 25nm synchronous (represented by the letter B) NAND, but as with any other silicon device there's always a cost savings if you can sacrifice performance.

So just making sure I understand this review correctly. The "increased" random read and write are, for all intents and purposes, Not there? I mean, I was gonna sell my C300 128GB for the upgrade, but it's looking like there will not be any real gains.

How does it compare to the other SSDs you used?

Honestly, you wont be able to tell the difference between any decent SSD unless you are transfering a lot of data, which you shouldnt be doing on an SSD OS drive anyway.

compressible data. the M4 will deal with it realistically, a SF based SSD will not. they suffer at incompressible data. AS SSD is incompressible data.
