Did I just kill my RAID1 setup?

Hi all, per my work pc in sig is what I am refering to. I had to switch to IDE from RAID mode in BIOS and boot into XP so I could run a destructive flash an Indilinx Barefoot SSD I have. Upon initial boot up it found new hardware/drives and wanted me to reboot, which I did not...I just needed to run a flashing utility on my SSD. That completed fine so I shut down and remove the SSD so I could remove the jumper and plugged it back in. Then restarted and went right back into BIOS to change back to RAID mode, saved and booted into XP.

Now it looks like have my data on the mirror is gone, and I get an error saying "The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume F:"

I'm running the "Verify" under Manage in RST 10.5.0.1022 right now to hopefully recover data...is this the right? Or am I screwed? It's at 20% complete with 185 Verfication Errors found.

Any suggestions or proper way to handle this? Thanks!

I dont know why you would think that switching off RAID mode in the bios wouldnt break the array... Essentially, when you switched to IDE mode, the bios exported two seperate disks to the OS. Then on OS detection, new partition tables were written to the drives. Theoretically, your data is still in tact, but you need to find a way to have the RAID controller recoginize one of the drives as a broken array, not as a newly allocated drive. Try only having one of them plugged in and see what the RAID bios tells you.

Yeah, I don't know what the hell I was thinking. Evidently not straight that's for sure. I meant to unplug the RAID drives before switching to IDE and just dropped the ball. I'll try one drive at a time tomorrow morning when I get back to work. I'll post an update.

Thanks for the tip one just havin 1 drive plugged in. When I booted into Windows, Intel RST showed the drive as being degraded. I shut down and plugged in the 2nd drive and I was able to rebuild.

Glad that worked out man! A successful RAID recovery always makes me feel at ease. Unfortunately, I have gone thru that process with various arrays more times than I care to admit....
