As I posted in the thread over at hwbot, last saturday the Mad Shrimps headed over to a local shop to host a local overclocking demonstration. Eight pc enthusiasts, who knew nothing about overclocking, were invited and were given a quick intro to X58 overclocking. After the intro, the gang spend a couple hours trying to push their system to get the highest Vantage Entry score. Pretty cool to see people who know nothing about overclocking still reach ~ 4.6GHz on air Vantage stable!
The second part of the day was a demonstration of extreme overclocking; explaining how insulation works, what to pay attention to, etc. All in all a very, very fun day! It's particularly ego-boosting to have people actually listening to your oc-jibberish
Oh, right. The purpose of this OC demo was not to have the best possible score (6990's tested the first time at the event) or being super-efficient, but just having a functional setup and showing the performance of a highly overclocked CPU.
Anyway,
