    205k 3DMark03 with 6990's

As I posted in the thread over at hwbot, last saturday the Mad Shrimps headed over to a local shop to host a local overclocking demonstration. Eight pc enthusiasts, who knew nothing about overclocking, were invited and were given a quick intro to X58 overclocking. After the intro, the gang spend a couple hours trying to push their system to get the highest Vantage Entry score. Pretty cool to see people who know nothing about overclocking still reach ~ 4.6GHz on air Vantage stable!

The second part of the day was a demonstration of extreme overclocking; explaining how insulation works, what to pay attention to, etc. All in all a very, very fun day! It's particularly ego-boosting to have people actually listening to your oc-jibberish

Oh, right. The purpose of this OC demo was not to have the best possible score (6990's tested the first time at the event) or being super-efficient, but just having a functional setup and showing the performance of a highly overclocked CPU.

    Anyway,

    SETUP:

    - Intel Core i7 990X
    - GIGABYTE X58A-OC
    - 2x AMD Radeon HD 6990 (1x GIGABYTE, 1x Sapphire)
    - Corsair Dominator GTX2
    - Corsair AX1200
    - Samsung HDD

    THANKS TO:

    - GIGABYTE for all the hardware and the LN2
    - TONES for hosting this nice event for the second time
    - LEEGHOOFD for trusting me with the GTX2 and PSU

    SCORE:

    HWBOT

    Other scores:

Since the youtube vbulletin tags are not installed here, I'll have to forward you to the hwbot thread (see first paragraph). Also posted more pictures over there as well as a bit more information.

Nice chip, nice uncore & great to see an event like this getting more people involved.

Too bad the board is late to the party and expensive.....

That would be awesome to have at least one or two to come and bench with us... we have Teemto (Pascal) from last years academy in the team now... was a fun day, too bad we had monitor issues on one setup lol
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

That is insane. To think that only 7 years ago we weren't able to brake 20k mark.

    Good job

Nice event! I think there should be more of these, it's a great way to get more people interested in overclocking. And it's good fun.
