Well it is only improving memory compatibility. I wish they were a bit more specific. :/

It would have been awesome if they could add support for Lucid Virtu MVP (because Virtu doesn't have a Windows 8 driver yet), improved boot times even further and integrated latest Intel RST ROM. (unfortunately, none of which might happen )

True, but still nice to see that they havent completely abandoned the board yet, it does have pretty good boot time already however.. but yeah.. RST rom would be nice aswell

Of course Asrock are still updating things on the board, I still pull the ol girl out from time to time and test new UEFI versions to check all is well still The memory compatibility isn't my suggestion though, more than likely Asrock fine tuning for high density modules.

There is a new beta bios that updates intel management engine and adds the Ultra Fast boot option if you have Windows 8 and a supported GPU. alas, my GPU doesn't support Ultra Fast boot.

You can grab the bios from here.

Finally managed to get Ultra Fast Boot.

Look how fast it boots into Windows now. =]

Read the description on how to convert MBR to GPT while retaining your data. Remember you need a GOP supported graphics card.

    Wake-On-LAN settings

Does anyone know which settings I need to set to get wake on LAN functionality working? I want to wake my PC up to stream movies to my tablet.

It used to work many months ago, but I have updated the firmware and reinstalled Windows couple of times and I cannot seem to get it working again.

Hi, nice thread. Ive been reading it latelly because i have some problems with this motherboard and was looking if someone else has the same problem.

I bought this motherboard not with the intention of overclocking, just was looking for the best motherboard in the store at the moment, about a year ago, and the salesman offered this one, Asrock z68 extreme4.

latelly, the computer is randomly freezing and shutting unexpectedlly off.
i took it to the store and couldnt find the error, they tested the disks, memorys, cpu, video card.
so i started doing some research and found this thread. i started reading it, i plan to read all relevant posts, and meanwhile im posting this one.

If anyone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction to find a solution for my problem, i would apreciate it.

    my mobo config is:

    Windows 7
    Power: corsair TX850W
    Ram: 16GB ddr3 - 1333 (4 x 4GB)
    Video: GeForce GTX 580
    CPU fan: Zalman 9900
    CPU: Intel i7 2600

    thanks

i cannot return it, it has more than a year!

it only works when i turn the air conditioner on, and no, the processor is not overheating. so strange.

i use it mostly for 3d rendering, so i leave it running for hours at 100% processor speed, many times a week, i usually left it running at night with the air conditioner off without any problem before, but now i have leave the air conditioner on when i leave the computer on at night. It still shuts down with the A/C on but much less frequently.

The VRMs and/or PCH on the board are more than likely overheating. You will need to remove the mainboard cooling and replace the thermal pads/TIM. Phobya make excellent thermal pads and Arctic MX4 is great as far as TIM goes.

thanks for the answer, right now im not in the office, but im guessing those are the blue things attached to the mother board that i didnt know what it was, ill sure try to find those you are recomending, and replace them.

Because we don't have a Windows 8 supported Lucid Virtu driver, we cannot use QuickSync with a dedicated GPU installed? What the hell!
