Intel Now Offers Five-Year Warranty on Intel SSD 320 Family

Intel has announced they will be extending the warranty on their Intel SSD 320 from three to five years. This marks the first time a consumer SSD has been given a warranty length that matches that of hard drives in the consumer space. Until now, the only drives with lengthy warranties under their belt have been enterprise SSDs like the Micron RealSSD P300 we reviewed earlier this month.

Intel is really flexing their muscles to get SSD-adopters' attention when it comes to advertising their products. They have been a step or two behind some of the faster SandForce-based drives, but have offered enterprise-grade features such as power backup capabilities to keep your data safe if power drops to your computer, and the best NAND. Early-buyers need not worry about the warranty extension, as they are grandfathered in according to our source at Intel....

300 GB 1.8 would be a nice device for sure

intel is getting a helluva rep as the gold standard of SSD reliability. this certainly shows that they do have a very small rma rate.

Finally someone with guts. I was sick and tired of just crappy 2 year warranty for such expensive products.

    Doesn't Patriot offer a 10 year warranty?

I do love my 160GB 320 so far and I'm pretty happy to hear about the warranty being extended.

Great... But trick is... Will they actually allow RMA on these?
It would be a nice change from their processors...

I think they used to but checking their page, all drives have just 3 years warranty.

Yeah, pretty much this. I find Intel to be the worst for RMA's. Whenever I want to RMA a processor or an MB they make me jump through 1000 loops with their "technicians". In the end, half the time they tell me some garbage like "physical damage isn't covered" because something fried (obviously my fault ), and refuse to give me an RMA.

why would physical damage be covered? so you can fail, overvolt your cpu. blow it up and rma it?

Sometimes things go wrong themself and you feel pissed if they refuse RMA...

Well for my part they would not do RMA, because the processor was given to me... (not exactly something that is rare when reviewing various products)
Dispite for sure it could not be 2 years old, as it happend less then 11 months after launch of the CPU (If my memory is not playing tricks with me)

Most hardware companies have the same policy when it comes to RMA. If you are the original buyer you won't have any trouble doing an RMA with Intel.
    Main : i7 920 D0 @ 4ghz on Rampage II Gene - H2O - 6gb XMS3 1680mhz C9 - GTX 580
    Sossaman : Dual Yonah @ 2.0ghz
    Server: 1055T 6 core @ 3.6ghz - air cooled - 16gb KVR1333 - 8 x 1TB Caviar Black
    HTPC : i5 760 @ 4ghz on Maximus III Gene - H2O - 8gb KVR1333 - GTX275 - 80GB X25-M G2 + 4 x 2.5" Caviar Black 500GB @ 7200RPM

So you didn't buy the CPU, yet you want a replacement when it breaks?

yes, is that a problem? It was the best IMC chip I had of LGA1156.

Sure it is. You didn't buy it, you have 0 rights (including RMA) over it, and most sane companies will reject such RMAs as stated above. Blaming Intel (or any other company) for doing so is laughable at best.

Then you've never made a RMA at Crucial?
