Christopher: Got myself an intel 510 - 250gig today .... were being sold for $300 AU so I figured it was a pretty good deal.
I tried the 510 250GB a few weeks back, a great drive!
$300 AUD is exactly half the price of the cheapest store in Norway.
The 510 has been much to expensive, it sells for $750 AUD where I usually buy SSDs. (normally about the cheapest shop in scandinavia)
I'd get one (or two) if it was available for $300 AUD. ($1 AUD = 6 NOK)

Hardware:
Yeah, the 510 has been fairly expensive here too ... but one of the shops here was clearing stock of the 510 series, and took something like $200 of the price. (other places still selling it are > $600 each, which is obviously a bad deal)
You know how I love the 510. And I don't even have a 250 (which is... fantastic). I have the 120GB and I'm perfectly happy with it.
The 120GB is now $209 USD instead of $280. The 250GB is $489 here... much, much cheaper, but still far more expensive than virtually anything else. You can get two 256GB M4s for one 250GB 510.
I don't think it officially goes EOL until September when it and the 311 series are discontinued.

The Endurance rig did something it hasn't done in a very, very long time ; it spontaneously reset 19 minutes ago.
I'm not sure why, either.
EDIT
My whole building suffered a momentary power outage for about a second. So not the fault of the e-rig. I had it back up and running a few moments later.

The vertex 4 is operating rather boringly for the moment.
My whole condo building building is not only surge protected, but is backed up by two giant Detroit Diesel generators. I thought it was supposed to be a seamless transition, but I think there would need to be large batteries inline to handle power for a few seconds while the generators switch over. There are a few restaurants on the first floor of my building which also rely on the generators.
This is the first actual power outage I think the building has ever seen. Given the exceedingly low power usage of the e-rig, I just need a UPS to last for a few seconds until the generators switch over and spool up. I'll try and a UPS soonish.

Damn your X25 is kicking my dead X25's butt.
Anvil, the 830 is at 1,041,536GiB in ASU.
Your bound and determined to make me buy one of these aren't you?
Newegg. $270> http://promotions.newegg.com/NEemail...E0-_-PromoWord
It is all your fault if I do. That is what I'm telling my wife anyway.
I'd be happy to explain to your wife that you really, really need one. And that the future of the human race depends upon it. And if that doesn't work, I'll casually inform her that mine has been averaging 300MB/s since restarting ASU this morning. What other excuse could you need??
Christopher
So the 830 made it
1st drive to get past 1PiB, not many of those out there.

What other drive would be able to do ~300MB/s on average, except maybe for the SLC in the other thread.
(not many "consumer SSDs", if any at all)
