    vDIMM mod for Soltek SL-KT600-R

    Hi,

I have several s.A boards, but the only one still working is the above mentioned Soltek. My completely modded NF7-S v2 died before 2-3 days. So, back on the KT600 board:

I did a vCore mod, because the maximum from bios is 1.85V, resulting in something like 1.82V real voltage. It was easy to complete, found the datasheet and after a while it was working. Put on/off switch as well.

The problem is vDIMM mod. Tried to tie the slots directly to the 3.3V PSU rail, but the board refuses to POST if the voltage is set to auto in bios (only this way it's connected to the rail, otherwise all other options bypass the mod and give the memory selected voltage from bios - max 2.8V). So, I thought the board has some OCP/OVP, but I don't know how to bypass it.
OCZ Booster doesn't work as well, it does basically the same thing as the direct rail mod, but with a potentiometer.

Here are some pictures of the DIMM area, some of them are blurry, but If you want me to make better pictures on some specific area I'll try to keep them as sharp as possible.

Did some measurements, green dots read vDIMM, the lonely green dot outside zoomed area reads always vDIMM + 0.02V.

Here's the link to HC132 datasheet

Currently I'm stable on 227MHz FSB with RAM running 1:1 2-2-2-6 1T (Twinmos BH-5 2x256MB), but I need at least 3.2V, so I can use some of my 2x512MB sticks. I have an option to run the memory at FSB + 33MHz, so if I can achive that it would be great, but it will require a lot more vDIMM. KT600 doesn't have AGP/PCI lock and I'd like to have more flexibility. Thanks in advance.

while other people upgrade, you downgrade! LOL
    i like the spirit ^^

well, while your at it, you might go for a super PLL mod, ive seen that a long time ago...
thatll give you locked pci and agp clocks

about vdimm... if you find the address for soltek here in taipei, let me know and ill pay them a visit
IF the engineer who did the board still works there, who knows, he might help you... even if he isnt, they should have the layout of the board

Nah, I doubt Soltek is still going on. Their site doesn't work from long time ago, I think the company doesn't exist anymore.
pci/agp lock mod would be great, I thought doing something like that, but had no luck finding such a mod.
I love benching s.462, it's my all time favorite platform . I'd normaly use nforce2 board for that competition, but that's what I have atm and I can't find NF7-S or DFI NFII Ultra-B here in Bulgaria. Ebay boards won't come on time.

September 2005 - In September of 2005 the company announced that they were no longer making motherboards and only dealing with computer peripherals.

2007 - Soltek website goes offline. With no information available online assume company has gone out of business.
