    Kingston SSD 60gb possible issues?

    Hi all,

So my uncle has requested my help with his computer... and sadly, I am unable to figure it out. I was hoping that some one on here would have some information on my issue...

So he has been getting random BSOD's on windows 7 ... I havnt been around to check the error code, but have asked for him to write it down the next time he sees it...

I have the newest BIOS put on the mobo ( Gigabyte P55-UDP4 ver. 1.0) and have TRIM enabled, etc (also has been occuring on fresh windows installations... he says he has formatted 4 times)
But... I have recently run a HDD test using HDTune... the image below will show you the results of the error check

Would this cause the BSOD's that hes been having?

all the bench marks seem to run fine... I havnt saved their results... but I would be more than happy to get a couple of screen shots if anyone thinks that will help...

Anyone with input is greatly appreciated... hopefully some one has had this issue and has been able to fix it....

    Cheers

1st off elimate the RAM. Use memtest and make sure you run it at least 6 times (Just leave it running and it will repeat). Edit: if it fails any test, repeat with one RAM module at a time to see if only one module is bad. Once you find the bad RAAM module dump it.

    http://www.memtest.org/

If it's not the RAM try to get more details from the event manager and that should help find and eleimate other likely suspects.

    Thanks for the reply,

I am currently running memtest; it is on pass 4 with no errors atm... ill let it keep going with a few more passes as you suggested...

I'll get back to you on the event manager... once I finish up with the mem testing

    Alright, so...

I have let it go for 8 passes... no errors, so i believe it is safe to say that it is not the RAM.... yet it is odd why one would get an 1a error if it is not memory...
I have run a system file check and it found no violations...
I have browsed through the event viewer and nothing in there really reveals anything...and if anything brings up more questions.....

other than a Volume Copy Service error_ IVSSWRITERCALLBACK which I followed the instructions to fix it...

the other error that was repeated quite a number of times;had no suggestions on how to fix it for example:

"The launch and activation security descriptor for the COM server application with APPID {7DB2DA7A-8F3D-4329-990X-32E15C849F00} is invalid. it contains Access Control Entries with permissions that are invalid. The requested action was therefore not performed. This security permission can be corrected using the Component Services administrative tool."

But would these have ANY effect on a 1a BCCode? doesnt make sense to me...

anyway, in the mean time I have done some changes

I have increased the DRAM voltage to .08v above stock settings (1.5)
I have uninstalled daemon tools, as there were a couple post posts saying that this would cause a 1a error because of a SPTD.sys creating a conflict or something of that nature
    ensured TRIM is enabled...

maybe its just me but a lot of the errors in the event viewer seem ambiguous / nor does microsoft have a lot of answers for them... is there something I should be looking out for? all the crashes are marked by Criticals, and there are a couple of VSS and that COM error before the crash... nothing else that leads me to a 1a error, or a hard drive failure...

I guess for now I will have to wait and see if theres another crash..... maybe I fixed it in my mass of changes

    otherwise; I am lost

    Have you watched the video?

seems a bit outdated... I guess these things are congruent?

edit: from the dump files I looked at its all 1A ; "Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exe"

Possible driver issues perhaps? I have updated every single driver now as well... so we shall see what happens

So I guess I have good news

Looks like I may fixed it... hasn't crashed in 24 hours (was crashing every 10-12 hours)... I'm thinking it must have been a driver issue... or something else I did fixed it =\ hahaha

Thanks for your input Ao1, greatly appreciated... at least some one chimed in...

so I guess its safe to say that the one block error on the SSD was not affecting the crashes

Mods, feel free to delete or continue for other ppl that may have the same issue =\
