Guy's, anyone know why my physics score is so crap? Should a 4.8Ghz 2600k/HD6950 score more than this?

im not sure how SB compares to Bloomfield exactly but at 4.2 i7 920 with ht i get 9873 so yes id say its low.
If you have any of C-state enabled in bios , that is your problem.

samsung 840 evo 500GB, HP EX 1TB NVME , CM690II, swiftech h220, corsair 750hxi
I'll do a run with my 2500k for comparisons sake. If I remember correctly I got something like 26FPS for the physics test when I last run it. Dunno what that translated to for the retard points system 3DM uses, can't remember.

Something must be up with your overclock then , few times that i had lower then expected score is when , i had C-states enabled and or when OC was bad.
This is mine at only 4300mhz over 10k physics.

Maybe your cpu is throttling under load did you try to run Tmonitor while stress testing ?

Link to newer version Tmonitor , there can't be compatibility issues not to mention we both have same 2600k sandy as does everyone else.
If Tmonitor shows no throttling , try reinstalling 3dmark11.

Yep something strange, i goes to 11450 pnts (36.35fps ) with I7 2600K@5.1ghz
Try maybe uninstall OpenCL and reinstall a fresh new ? I see something strange on your CPU-Z screenshots, your Vcore, if you had cut all power saving, you should have the "real vcore OC " set. I suspect you run it with SVID only.
( the vcore set in auto by the bios )
( i have run it again at 5ghz ... got 11'262 / 35.75fps )
Little question i don't think it should have an impact, but you cut AA, AF, etc for the run ? maybe something too, i know when you run complete test, physics test is set at a fixed resolution, is it the case too when you run separate test ?

CPU: - I7 4930K (EK Supremacy )
GPU: - 2x AMD HD7970 flashed GHZ bios ( EK Acetal Nickel Waterblock H2o)
Motherboard: Asus x79 Deluxe
RAM: G-skill Ares C9 2133mhz 16GB
Main Storage: Samsung 840EVO 500GB / 2x Crucial RealSSD C300 Raid0
That is very odd, my i5 at 4Ghz scores 7440. So something is definitely up.
Tmonitor shows no throttling, I've re-installed 3D11 twice. Even went as far as to download V100 (original unpatched version) & physics was even less !!!
Hi,
Vcore is set in bios, I never leave it on auto. No version of Cpuz can ever read my correct vcore even though it is set in bios, 1.45v for 5Ghz.
Tried no AA/AF, same thing. I've even done a full driver sweep/reinstall just to be sure.
Fresh installed Win7 a week ago so I'm tearing my hair out trying to figure this out. Thanks for the responses so far
Vantage cpu score seems spot on @ 4.8Ghz

Have you try install the latest APP 2.4SDK ?

Few suggestions;
- Install latest version of DX (or reinstall, if you installed newest DX already)
- Your physics score might be out of whack because of the BCLK clock. SB uses a ringbus architecture - simply put everything is linked together (CPU clock, memory clock, PCI-E frequency) so with a high (for SB) BCLK clock you could be throwing things out of whack. Change BCLK to 100.1MHz and hit up a 50x multiplier. Re-test physics score.

APP is the new name for ATI AMD Stream SDK, who is the OpenCL accelerated GPU libraries ( or CPU ), as physic in 3Dmark11 use this OpenCL libraries ( + Bullet ), let see if it can solve any conflict you got with it..
Physic test is only OpenCL Physic by CPU, on second ( combined ) it use both ( GPU and CPU )
Anyway Ket is maybe right, i have not see you had OC the BCK .

Thanks for the suggestions, DX is as up to date as it can get. Just to add, even with everything running at complete bog stock speeds (nothing overclocked) the physics score is really embarassing for a 2600k.
Cheers, I'll give it a go & see if anything improves
It might sounds odd, but have you checked to see if all 4 cores are being utilised? Maybe a settings in the UEFI for how many cores are used.

Thats really weird. If that 26.10 I see in the 3D11 window is the FPS your CPU gets in the physics test, its way low. I tested my 2500k @ 4.6GHz earlier and it topped out at about 28.8FPS. Only thing I can think of ATM if you haven't done it already is update your UEFI / BIOS to the latest there is, do a full CMOS reset (remove power cord, battery, and set CMOS jumper to "clear") leave for a few mins, press power button 2-3 times (discharges capacitors) then start from scratch and see if you get the same problem. It might also be worth checking that your memory is 100% stable as the IMC is also built onto the SB die as well now so any instability in the memory / CPU could effect the physics score. Can you tell if your physics score is about right when everything is stock? If it is, theres deffinately some instability going on with the CPU/IMC/memory when its all OCd, if scores still aren't right even at stock... my guess would be a software problem and a format may be required to get things back to normal.

SORTED! Wow what a mission, memory was running single channel mode Because I had slots 1,2 populated which I assumed was the correct positioning for Dual channel looking at my mobo manual, instead of slots 1,3.
The weird thing is I did not pick up on the because cpuz would not read the mode or the correct memory timings, so I had no idea it was running single channel.
Only way I can tell if it's running dual is Aida64 reading.
Single channel memory read was 14k, so it's improved a lot in dual channel.
EDIT: Thanks for all the responses & troubleshooting assistance, much appreciated
