Nice to see OTH doing the roundup again though.

GTX 460 786 MB is EOL and won't be around for much longer. But in any case anyone considering these should just save up for 6850 or 460 1GB or maybe wait for possible 560 (without Ti).

I just have to say 5770 has retained it's value for far too long.

    Goalpost moving much?

6870's a lot more from the current 6850 prices, not $15 (and certainly not cheaper after MIR).
And the 6950 crossgrade is only really worth it if you like EQAA (CSAA) and you wanna unlock.

this card is so near the HD5770 in terms of performance, and we are talking about a card released for about the same price in 2009!
and I remember many people weren't impressed with the performance which was bellow the 4870 and GTX 260 in many cases....

to bad the GTX 460 is going to disappear soon, things are not looking so interesting, I guess the problems at TMSC are having quite some impact, or maybe it's just the lack of real competition...

This is the thing though. Usually bang for your buck gets worse as you go up the food chain(this isn't always true with the super low low end) and 150 is usually where you have the best bang for your buck. Considering a 6850 costs 10 percent more for 15 percent more performance(35% if you unlock it), it makes the price of this card too high. Similarly, there are cards that are faster at the same price point in the form of the gtx 460 758. This card gets even worse when you compare it to some of the better deals like the msi gtx 460 twin frozer which is overclocked 7 percent than stock and 10 percent cheaper than this card.

At current street price, this card is a worse buy than a gtx 550 ti which isn't that well priced in the first place. As it is 15 percent more expensive for 7 percent faster.

Something also tells me that the gtx 460 is going to be in stock longer than people think. It sold like hot cakes for a few months but the 6870 came out and Nv likely made alot of these cards. Considering how many in stock gtx 460 there are at newegg, I think there are still a decent supply for months to come.

Also from a naming perspective and spectrobozo has pointed out, it is not very impressive from a performance improvement over time standpoint.

The hope for this card like the gtx 550 is hopefully street price gets corrected as demand determines the real price of this card.

I find some reviews bizarre. E.g tweaktown says this is a awesome upgrade over a 5770 if you own one. I don't know about you but even their own charts are showing a card that is 10-20% faster. I don't know about you but if I upgrade a card and it a bit over a year old, if I am going to pay the same price, I expect more than 15% more performance if I want the upgrade worthwhile. I certainly wouldn't find it awesome.

BTW: 5850 is only 140€ over here; 10€ more than 6850, i think that this is the best card in this price region and still the best card in terms of power/performance

i got my card used for 120€

I agree. However, I find the HD 6790 a great upgrade for someone that bought a GTS 450.

    I totally disagree with you

HD6790 is overall slightly faster than GTX 550 Ti according to these reviews (and in some few cases it is worse). You probably won't notice any difference between the two.

Even against GTS 450, it is not a great upgrade in my opinion.

Someone who bought a GTX 550 Ti for $149 less than a month ago can now buy a HD 6790 for $149 that offers a ~10% increase in performance at 1680. However, the most important aspect is that the HD 6790 is MUCH more "upgrade friendly" if someone decides to replace their 19-22" panel with a 1080P unit.

As for the GTS 450, the HD 6790 provides an approximate 30% performance increase. How is that not an upgrade?
