Only just got this 2600k together so just tweaking stuff at the moment.

    CPU @ 4800, GPU @ 900/2200 (1.113v) Forceware 270.51

I've toyed a bit with 3Dmark11 but something seems amiss. On my 920 @ 4ghz I got in the 7100P range but with this 2600 using the 270.61s, its closer to 6600. The cpu score went up respectively without a doubt but obviously the gpu went down. Have these newer drivers kicked 3D11 in the nuts? Down grading to even the 270.51s boosted 11 a good 150 points. I don't recall what I was running when I last benched my previous system (I want to say 266 series) Based on what I'm seeing with Vantage though these numbers seem to be in the right ballpark. Strange...

    EDIT:

Heres a Heaven 2.5 run at Defaults

hmm whats the most stressful test that can confirm stability without disabling OCP via gpuz
on my 480 sli was crysis 2 on 3d.

got a zotac 580 vid 1.025 and its so far been ok at 900,2300 at 1.075 via 2d games etc

any suggestion on a single app??

Ive found Heaven (2.1 or 2.5) and Vantage to be good sythentics for OC stability. They are easy to loop and aren't unrealistic load wise and honestly I've never found OCCT or Furmark to be anything more than a cooling test. As far as games go Just Cause 2 can be decent test however its picky with drivers and I've found it can crash even at stock so its not ideal ( not driver stoped responding but purely a crash to desktop ) GTA4 and EFLC seemed to be quite effective for the recent AMD hardware I've used but didn't appear to be so picky on Nvidia stuff.

Generally if you can loop Heaven at your highest native resolution with max AA and AF with extreme tes for 30-60min its a pretty good indication of stability. From there I'd simply use the card as you would and see if any issues arrise. Gpu overclocks tend to be much more picky than cpu overclocks...

Asus DCUII. Bottom screen is 480 lightning. Not sure why the 480 outscores it with the same oc on cpu and mem, same os.

@p3gaz - Heh well you're cpu is not going to like you much if you hammer it with that much vcore!

i use those voltages for benchmarks sessions only... it is not for a daily use, however i'm still looking for the max cpu speed/vcore i need to mammer it a little bit .. (for a while) ...

Guys, how do you get more than 1.213v vgpu on 580? I read about modded MSI AB or Smartdoctor but I havent seen the files anywhere yet.

more than 1.213 think isn't possible, and what do you need that high voltage for? are going to cool it with ln2?

I upgraded my PSU from a Silverstone 750ZF to a Strider Gold 850, would there be any chance that the overclocking headroom on my card will increase? ( Im guessing not )

No but I will give DICE a shot, and with it maxed at 995 1.213v Im only hitting mid 40's gpu temp so Im sure it could handle a little more juice to try to get it to pass at 1000.

You don't even need DICE, you will be fine on water. I raised up to 1.35V on water without problems.

That depends on various factors. I've noticed OC headroom has gone up over time with some of my hardware, although I can't say for certain what attributed to it. The last hardware I had long enough for this scenario to arise was a couple HD4830s in CF. Initially they could only do 675/2000 24/7, then just before retiring them I decided to have another play around with them and they were able to do 725/2100, same voltage and settings, and nothing major about the system itself had changed.

Then you will have to try with DICE.
Mine GTX580 runs up to 1030MHz at 1.225V under water and not a 5MHz higher, no matter how high voltage.

    Testing GTX580 @ stock cooling... (fan 85%)
The card can pass 3DM06,3DM05,3DM03,3DM01 at 970/1200 with 1.125V but can't go higher not even with 1.15V... I will try on SS soon!
