    Windows 8 info's

    Windows 8 M2 Build 7971.0.110324-1900.
    Should leak soon supposedly.
Anyone got any screenshots of the so called new interface?

This is a translation, looks pretty good though...

We are waiting for leaks in the network of the final assembly of Windows 8 M2 Build 7971.0.110324-1900.
This assembly became available for the expanded group of testers and OEM partners on the site of Microsoft Connect, to these weekends, you can expect leakage of the assembly in the network.
Now we are working on the M3, M3, after two months worth waiting for CTP, Beta 1, so wait and wait ...
And no, it's not an april fool's joke .

I don't download betas of windows.
But I am interested in hearing more about it.

I'm guessing that the release date will be next spring for oem's (2012), and fall for consumers, I'm guessing though.
That would make it 2 years from the release of win7, so my estimate might be 1 year off, it might be 1 more year.

If the first public beta is as stable as the first public W7 beta (build 7000) i have no problem ditching W7 for that (unless there is something else anoying about it)

If i want NOW i can seek for "leaks" (sometimes leaks are just public releases, got name as leak, to get even more downloads)

Well i read somewhere that W8 would have 2 possible gui options ...

    1) All fancy with some 3d interactions and xpto effects
    2) A Gui for performance, allowing systems with low performance to run it ....

I'm really looking forward at that 2 option

I hope Windows 8 will use an entirely new GUI, which I suppose it would, and I wish Microsoft would give us an option to completely change the font, I hate the default font for Vista/7, whatever it was called.

I agree, being able to change font's, and colors for all the generic stuff that you can do for generic themes but not aero themes right now.
Wish you could change those options for aero themes...

You CAN doit, but it involves hex editing the theme with 0 ref's to go by.
The only hex offset ref's are from vista and those don't match up at all.

I hate the double width taskbar when it's on the side.

And it would be nice to get rid of the extra processes that run when you have a widget enabled.
Winxp didn't have extra processes to use active desktop which is essentially the same darn thing...

The aero peak bar that I have disabled but I can still see it (If I hack it out, the clock and icon's are still positioned above where it would be).

    Oh one more.
Sometimes when exploring though a long list of folder's.
    When I'm nav'ing though them.
Sometimes windows will screw up my position on the screen, trips me up.
Hard to explain that one but it happens alot.
It's the auto expand to current folder thing or that other setting next to it in the folder options, disabling it screws over functionality though.

Those are my biggest gripes about win7.

    Edit:
Multi column thumbs in taskbar preview.
    That would be nice too.

No blur "option" for taskbar, but not the titlebars (trust me, no blur on titlebar's you won't like I've used it and got annoyed by it real fast).

    And...
Js/html rendering support added BACK to the taskbar like it used to back in the xp days (works in my win2k3, but of course it does nothing in win7).

Do we have MS reps here somewhere lol?
It would be nice if they listened to some our stuffs.

I want a group policy that has plenty of functions and doesn't suck in windows 8.

//currently trying to force "LAN auto detect" in IE to off via policies for win7
//I mean really, have policies to tell it to use such and such proxies pacs, but of course it decides to use auto detect

And maybe support 3d desktop with 3d icons on 3d monitor (like 3d menus/home screen on nintendo 3ds )

Only the universal subscription I think gets you access to some of the early stuff.
Not 100% sure though, the quote I posted says oem, which means tier 1 oems.

When it hits beta1, it will probably show up on technet/msdn.

It might however show up on the news groups as soon as this ver is leaked.
I haven't messed with those in years, verizon's news groups suck the last time I checked, they used to be decent...

Either way, from the sounds of it, the russians will share it on private tracker.
That will make it so it's easy to get, it might not be spread much though considering what rev it is.

The news was posted on the 29th.
It might take a few weeks to see it.
They said weekend, as in this weekend, but I would not hold my breath.

Most likely its a skinned Win7.

I don't play around with TPB stuff. I will wait until it shows up on Technet or MSDN and get the real thing.

We can always check the build number. Danfoss, ctrl alt delete > task manager > help > about for build number.
    And...

windows 8 ? surely not so soon? Especially considering it's a popular OS unlike vista.

This made us believe you had a copy, then you showed a install screen on your next post.

Most of those leaks out there are simply reskinned Win7 and not Win 8.

It's not on Technet or MSDN yet and connect has no links or sign ups for it yet.

Im guessing they their will be a lot of bugs with this os. My reason is because its suppose to be the first 64 Bit only OS. This would be a full rewrite of the OS itself to be 64 Bit only and a lot of development goes into this. I just hope they didn't use 7 different programing languages again like previous releases. It is very very doubtful that there is anything past feature or operation test of single pieces atm.

Vista was a serious blip on microsofts OS radar. XP was great, and Windows 7 was even better.

I dont want something as bad as Vista again, Windows 7 is just so unbelievably reliable, and hasnt ever corrupted or had any problems requiring a reinstall like I always had to do with Vista.

So I have a lot of doubts on any OS that MS now release due to my problems with Vista.
