Nothing new but nicely explained.

I would like to see a comparison between the Vertex 3 120GB MaxIOPS drive to the M4 128GB drive.
The latter I can gather from other reviews, but I have yet to see the performance of a V3 120GB MaxIOPS drive by itself -- not in a RAID. The V3 Vanilla has better sequential performance but poorer random performance as compared to the M4 making the comparison difficult. I'm interested to see how the MaxIOPS drive's random R/W performs as that should either make the V3 the superior drive or not.
Correct John, it's not a fair comparison but my 2 x M4 's 64Gb performed poor.
Not saying 128GB are poor but the no.s I saw & the way it performed on my Max IV.
I also have 3 Mushkin's that rock the 3G controller almost max.
Below are my 3 Mushkin Raid 0 128K & Bottom are running Raid 0 4k

I am in doubt if I should cancel my Vertex 3 IO for a M4

In the comments one person lists some atto result for the max iops in 1 drive and raid0 but that 4k read seems terrible?

New firmware for the V3
OCZ Firmware Release Notes Version 2.06
M a y 1 2 , 2 0 1 1
Issues resolved since version 2.02
*Fixed a rare corner case issue where a STOP error may occur during Windows OS 7 installation on a small number of platforms using Intel’s P67 Sandy bridge chipset
Vertex 3 series, Vertex 3 Max IOPS series, Agility 3 series, Solid 3 series
Note:
1. Future firmware upgrades require drives that have firmware version 2.06 or higher.
2. Once the drive has been upgraded with firmware version 2.06, it can NOT be downgraded to version 2.02.
edit:
A few more lines were added to the resolved list.
-Improved boot up time during typical operation
-Improved the drive’s power consumption when it was in an idle mode

Anymore updates on the V3 MI in a R0 vs the M4 in R0? Too bad there is only 2 x Intel SATA3/6Gbps controller ports. I would love to see a 3 x 128gb or 256GB C300 R0 bench with 4K results..

Hmm seems like something is off about my drives? My sequential speeds seem to be the same as some people's single drive. I have the latest firmware and I seem to get a Intel RST error about the raid array every time I reboot but I reset it to normal and it seems to go back chugging along.
Are you sure that you are using the 6Gb/s ports?
There are only 2 6Gb/s ports on the P67 and so you cant have all 4 SSD's working at full speed simultaneously.
Also, the C300's are running without the WriteBackCache enabled, so they are not really comparable.
Both are great drives though

Will be posting some benchmarks on the Agility 3 60GB later today...

Hardware:
I've been playing with the Agility 3 60GB for a few days (since Saturday) and it's been a frustrating experience.
It had the 2.06 FW installed and it is not working very well with the P67, I use it as a spare drive and it is *never* recognized when cold-booting.
Sometimes a "Rescan disks" from Disk Management is what is needed, sometimes I have to reconnect power to get it working.
Everytime it is "discovered" by W7, it installs the driver, never experienced this behavior before.
This never was and still is not a problem with my V3's where all except for 1 is running 2.02, I haven't tried the one that I upgraded to 2.06 but soon will.
Anyways, the Agility 3 60GB is a decent SSD, incompressible data makes a huge impact on performance though, much more than the Vertex 3.
Sequential read using highly compressible data is at ~480MB/s where as incompressible is down to ~165MB/s.
Sequential writes using highly compressible data is at ~450MB/s where as incompressible is down to ~67-70MB/s.
So, based on incompressible it's almost just like using a Vertex 2 60GB (34nm).
It does meet the advertised speeds

cdm_incompressible_2.PNG cdm_0fill.PNG
(it is 55,9GB, I've just created a smaller partition)
Just for the record, 329.6 MB/s 4K QD32 = 84377 iops.
So, I'll be waiting for the new firmware...
