    yeah i decided to pull the trigger on it. Still way more than I had initially planned on spending on a SSD but what the hell, just need to smoke a few less cigars/drink a little less scotch next month and it'll even out.

    Plus I'm tired of the headaches of putting together a new rig, I just want to use the damn thing.

    The 120GB MaxIO edition looks much better on paper than the standard one, should be interesting getting a pcmv comparison of those two.

    Still waiting for info on the 240GB MI...

    Not sure, probably a bit more, but I don't find mixing 6Gb/s+3Gb/s drives/ports that interesting. (there are 2 6Gb/s ports on the P67, should have been more but thats for the X79-E )
    (might give it a try just to find out what happens)

    edit:
    I did give it a try and by adding 1 C300 256GB to the equation throughput was reduced, the AS SSD score increased though.
    (3x Vertex'es probably would have performed better than mixing Vertex 3 + C300)

    Very impressive, Anvil.

    Regarding P67 PCH.
    There are 8 x1 PCIe2 lanes on P67 PCH, with each lane having 10Gbps concurrent bandwidth.
    I have no idea how many lanes are set aside for SATA, perhaps 2?

    Just got my two 240's in the mail today. Can't wait to install them.

    Will be quite the upgrade over the old Intel 80GB G1.

    @felix_w
    Sure, will do that this weekend.

    @One_Hertz
    Looks like the speed gain is at high qd's but more importantly it is now almost on par with the 240GB on writing incompressible data.

    @Wendy
    I'm happy with those results
    I haven't found out how many lanes that are reserved for the SATA part, according to TechReport "The P67 has a second-gen DMI implementation that doubles the speed of each lane, bumping aggregate interconnect bandwidth up to 4GB/s." Link

    Anyways, it can't handle the bandwith of 3x Vertex 3's
    (the wait for X79 has officially started)

    Because you installed Windows on yours -- you have the 1024KiB offset + 100MiB space windows leaves = 101 MiB = 103424 KiB.

    Strange. The SF-2200/2100 is based on the ONFi 2 specification - up to 166MT/s. 4K should be faster with 32nm. I wonder what NAND they are using. Toshiba? IMFT?

    I speculated a couple of weeks ago that MAXIO would use Toshiba 32nm toggle mode NAND.
    Although I haven't been able to get my hands on a MAXIO SSD, I still think that Tosh 32nm toggle mode NAND is still the most likely, as it was already used ES Vertex 3 Pro SSDs.

    It may also use the SF-2282 controller rather than the SF-2281 used in the Vertex 3.

    Aren't you running them in sata2? In that case 250x3 = 750 which is exactly what you are seeing, meaning no controller bottleneck.

    We did discuss the Toshiba toggle NAND on the previous page, I'm pretty sure that's whats used but it would be great to know for sure

    I won't be ordering the MAXIO edition unless I'm unhappy with the day-to-day performance on the standard edition.
    If I had known there was a MAXIO editon in the works I probably would have waited though, the 240GB MAXIO doesn't bring that much to the table vs the 120GB MAXIO edition.

    @One_Hertz

    No, 2x 6Gb/s ports + 1x 3Gb/s port

    I am pretty sure that when you do that you limit your array to 3x the bandwidth of the weakest link, which is the 3Gb port.

    You are correct
    For some reason I thought I had tried 3R0 C300 on the PCH resulting in >1GB/s but that wasn't correct. I had to use 4 drives for that kind of bandwidth.

    Yep - we're stuck with 2 6G drives for now on the P67... I wanted to buy 3 or 4 V3's, but soon realized if you're spanning your R0 array across both 3G & 6G ports, the 6G ports negotiate down to 3G speeds - no thanks. Gotta wait for x79. That's gonna be an EXPENSIVE upgrade for me. I'm thinking a very minimum of 4 MaxIO 120's... of course that's a ways out and whose to say the MaxIO will be the top SSD?
