I've had my old card for long time and have crash the system many times(10 or more) testing with never a failure to boot from the array

I have no problems with Areca 1680ix-12 and Areca 1880ix-24. Rock stable
I have to agree,even as a boot drive this one presents no problems in abusive usage patterns

Go to forums.2cpu.com, check the Storage subforum - it doesn't happen often, only one such report a day And note that 2cpu.com is often down, so many don't get reported
Theoretically, system crashes must not cause a RAID volume corruption, but Areca often looses such arrays. It does depend on several factors though - mostly disks used, then PSU quality and of course making sure the Areca CPU is cooled correctly.
Looks like that the "old" areca cards does have some problems. The newer Areca cards seems to have less to zero problems.
