tuniq tower extreme 120 for 2600k

these are the top heatsinks according to frostytech:

    http://www.frostytech.com/top5heatsinks.cfm

i was leaning towards the tuniq tower 120 extreme just because it comes with a fan and i've had good experiences with the old tuniq tower. also, it places 3rd on the list above. anyone else here use this heatsink for their 2600k?

    Frostytech is all lies

You're better off with a used TRUE 120 off ebay for less money. Either that or a venomous x for about the same price as the tuniq.

Look at their list of top heatsinks. Then look at just about every other site on the internet. You'll find that they're wildly inaccurate. The reason for this is because they use synthetic tests to test the heatsinks, instead of mounting the heatsinks to actual cpus and running benchmarks for more realistic results.

You got to be careful with heatsinks with respect to motherboards and ram for the 1155 platform.
Asus, for instance, will not fit certain retention brackets due to the close motherboard heatsinks.
Additionally, certain heatsinks are too low for ram with high/raised ramsinks.

Venomous-X, TRUE with 1156 bracket, Prolimatech, TTFrio, Noctua, Sliver Arrow are all fine.
I think the Archon will clear tall ram.
Asrock interestingly enough has holes for older socket 775 heatsinks too.

thanks for the advice. i think i'll go with either the thermalright venomous or the megahalem since my ramsinks are actually kind of high. i hear the megahalem has a good mounting system.

Ya, I don't give frosty tech any credit anymore. They say the Spire Thermax Eclipse II is the top cooler, but I just switched from that to an Archon, and my temps are MUCH cooler, and MUCH quieter too. If you can fit the Archon in your case, it is as good as the Silver Arrow but doesn't take up as much room (RAM-wise)

Archon is probably the best choice right now scoring a lot of points on cooling capability compared to its volume. I think its maximum a couple of degrees down on monsters like NH-D14 or Silver Arrow.
