Nothing yet from this guy?
Not a peep since I sent him the money last week, PM'd him here and hit up the email address linked to his heatware.
Well, here's the issue:
Varrius responded to my "WTB: GTX2" thread on 3/11 in the marketplace, saying he had 2x2GB of the RAM I wanted and would sell one or both if I wanted them.
I agreed to buy both for $300 when I got paid on 3/18, he was to pay shipping out of his end. I ended up selling some other items and was able to pay him early on 3/16. He couldn't take Paypal and requested a Western Union transfer. I have completed a previous deal with Varrius that went down without a problem, and he had a positive history on Heatware so I agreed to the abnormal payment terms. Which puts us to the present, I have not recieved any shipment or communication from him since the 16th. He's in Florida and I'm in Alabama, so if he has shipped the item, it should have been here several days ago. He has not logged in here since he recieved the payment. I've emailed him at the email address he has listed at Heatware, and PM'd him here with no response.
If this guy operates via Western Union transfers, I'd say you were simply lucky the first time. It's a huge red flag for a scam. Regular people don't use WU money transfers for selling items.
Particle's First Rule of Online Technical Discussion:
As a thread about any computer related subject has its length approach infinity, the likelihood and inevitability of a poorly constructed AMD vs. Intel fight also exponentially increases.
Rule 1A:
Likewise, the frequency of a car pseudoanalogy to explain a technical concept increases with thread length. This will make many people chuckle, as computer people are rarely knowledgeable about vehicular mechanics.
Rule 2:
When confronted with a post that is contrary to what a poster likes, believes, or most often wants to be correct, the poster will pick out only minor details that are largely irrelevant in an attempt to shut out the conflicting idea. The core of the post will be left alone since it isn't easy to contradict what the person is actually saying.
Rule 2A:
When a poster cannot properly refute a post they do not like (as described above), the poster will most likely invent fictitious counter-points and/or begin to attack the other's credibility in feeble ways that are dramatic but irrelevant. Do not underestimate this tactic, as in the online world this will sway many observers. Do not forget: Correctness is decided only by what is said last, the most loudly, or with greatest repetition.
Rule 3:
When it comes to computer news, 70% of Internet rumors are outright fabricated, 20% are inaccurate enough to simply be discarded, and about 10% are based in reality. Grains of salt--become familiar with them.
Remember: When debating online, everyone else is ALWAYS wrong if they do not agree with you!
Random Tip o' the Whatever
You just can't win. If your product offers feature A instead of B, people will moan how A is stupid and it didn't offer B. If your product offers B instead of A, they'll likewise complain and rant about how anyone's retarded cousin could figure out A is what the market wants.
Well obviously W.U. is less than ideal, but let's be honest, Paypal has it's issues as well, especially from the seller's end.
Anyway, this is not about W.U. vs. Paypal, just beware of any further transactions from this member until he resurfaces to explain/remedy the situation.
This just sucks.........Gunny, not that I'm suggesting violence..but how far a drive??

What did you buy from him previously?
I bought 4 gfx cards from him a year or so back and that went smoothly....
Hope you get this sorted.

Good luck to you on this but...
Never Ever trust someone that want's you to western union over the money, ever...
Not unless it's your relative or buddy that needs money fast or something, otherwise never trust the person that mentions western union.
Well I can't see throwing in more good money after the bad to go knock on his door so I left him a negative heatware evaluation.
Lesson learned, I hope he shows his face again some day.
If he does, likely he'll have an crazy tragic excuse on hand. Pardon me if it also happens to be true. Sh@t happens.
... frack.
So I'm out $220 as well. I had a WTB for a 2600k around the 12th or so, and he responded with he needed to sell out his pc to pay for medical bills for his father. Over a few PMs we agreed on a price, he agreed to post to Australia, and I paid around the 16th. Like you, that was 2 weeks ago and haven't heard from him since.
I paid by paypal, but he requested it as a personal gift payment (I thought nothing of it at the time) to avoid seller fees. Low and behold, you can't reverse/dispute these transactions.
If you have an address or other information on him, please pass it on. I'll be back in the states in October, and don't mind taking a detour to Florida...
EDIT: Google is pretty amazing. Found a John Joseph Gaudio, ~75 living in Palm Coast. Seems to be 2 addresses and a PO box in that area to the name too.

There's also one for a 24 year old in the same area, that's the one I'd try first. I suspect you'll want the John Gaudio III. Let me know if you want to borrow a baseball bat or a hammer.

This sucks.
FWIW his classified access was removed on the 24th, at least he won't be abusing any other members here via that route.
ygpm
Mike sent you his address that I used to ship him a PSU for a trade a year ago. Hope it works out for ya.

Any way we can get his IP address to attempt to match up a geo-location?
It's a match.
