Talking Finally, an OC I can brag about!

Ok guys, heres one I can really be proud of. Using a new Albatron KX8D Pro II board, my Barton 2500, and 1 stick of 512MB Corsair BH-6 Ram, I was able to get an OC of 2.5GHZ! With a 227FSB X11, and ram settings set at 11-2-2-2, I managed to get to this personal milestone. Although I dont have any proof to show, like screenshots and stuff,,,I was able to get a couple good benchmark scores before I ran off to work. With my FSB at 225X11.5, same ram settings, I was able to get a 3D Mark 2001SE score of 15557 (and thats w/ my GPU at default settings!), and a PC Mark2002 score of CPU:7690/Mem:7041. WOW!! I then lowered my multiplier to 11, and raised my FSB to 227, upped my CPU volts by a mere .50 for more stability, and was able to get a PCMark2002 score of CPU:7752/Mem:7102. I couldnt believe it! Course, then, dammit, I had to leave for work, so I couldnt run a 3DMark test. I'm cooling my CPU w/ a stock Corsair Hydrocool2000 watercooler, and I was right on the @$$ of my B/F's scores, his puter being cooled with his -24Cto-30C temp waterchiller! hehehehehehehe.....Can't wait to tweak more and see what I can do next,,,,,,,but I just had to post this....

Thanks guys,,,actually, Im fairly new at OC'ing,,,first time I've been able break past the 2400MHZ wall,,,must be the new board and better ram. I was using some CH-5 or CH-6 Corsair, and couldnt get the good timings,,,it was stopping me from going any further. But my B/F found he had a stick of BH-6 Corsair, and we thought we'd try it, seeing how the BH-5 is being hailed as THE one to have. We discovered that the BH-6 is damn near as good as the BH-5 for timings. The one stick of the BH-6 did sooo much better than even both of the CH-sticks together. Still need to tweak and try some dif things,,,Im sure I can get a bit higher,,too bad it takes time to do it. clock, reboot, clock, reboot, repeat...lol.

EDIT: BTW, I'll be posting on my case mod soon, pix and all,,,tis fairly sweet, if ya ask me. Course,,,Im prejudiced,,,lol,,,,,,

I recently bought a pair of Khx 3500's so I gave my G/F all my xms 3200's as they didn't clock all that well. For some stupid reason I had never tested them as single sticks always in pairs>this is when I noticed that one stick shined obove the rest .only after that did I pull the heat spreaders to see what I was giving up . I had a ch5, ch6.and a bh6 that clocked pretty close to a bh5. Ok, I'm thinking how long would I sleep on the couch if I....:banana::banana::banana::banana:, can't have that , Yep. I'm the B/F getting his ass kicked .By a GIRL! with stock water cooling!

    love you baby.

rofl, been there, done that. I never seem to learn, either.

John Goodman, early Roseanne, speaking to his son: "Son, always remember, the woman is always right"

    "But Dad, she was *wrong*"

(John Goodman makes a wry smile) "But, the woman is always right, ESPECIALLY when she's wrong"

A bit 'o truth to that Plus, you can substitute Rosanne talking to her daughter and sub man for woman and it still rings true

I had the ram cranked to 3V, the most this board will let me do. As to the weeks of the chips, Im not sure,,,Jamal keeps wanting my ram back,,,when I finally decide to let him get his hands on it again,,I'll have him check it out for you. Ya know, I was never able to get that OC before I got the new board in here and that 1 stick of ram. I'm not really sure HOW I did it. If it wasnt for Jamal and my 9yo son seeing me get those clock speeds, I'd prob think I dreamt the damn thing. I currently have my MO back at a more reasonable speed for my general everyday usage (wanna keep this baby as long as possible w/out burnin it up!) and really wish I had some screenshots as memento's and proof. I figure its gotta be the combo of this MO and the ram.

    Unhappy

Well, things really suck! The day after I got my awesome OC, the board crapped out! I coulndt believe it!! I was just d/l some pix off my camera and was unplugging it from the usb, the screen went kinda wonky, and then the sucker wouldnt boot! No post,,nothin! Now Im wondering if it was just a fluke OC cause the board was wierd. I got a new one, and got it in yesterday. Ive been workin to get the same OC and results, but its being a bit stubborn. I still need to do some work on it, but have managed to get it to the same OC level (got a screenshot this time ) w/ the same mem settings...so things arent all that bad. Also got a screenshot of a 3dmark2001SE score, which is a little lower than I had before, but at least I got it,,lol. Im thinking that perhaps all I need to do is get the new board used to the higher settings a little longer, and work out some bugs before I can get the same results. Isnt that how it always is.....damn hardware. Overall, though, Im quite happy with this Albatron,,,its really an awesome board.
